I'm thinking of upgrading to the Samsung Galaxy S4 when I'm due for it. I wanted to know how good Samsung is with handing out the Google updates? I want a good Android phone that gives me my updates when needed.

If you want Google OS updates as soon as they are available, get a Google phone. Samsung will push out updates once in a while for bug fixes. In the US, you will have to wait for the carrier to release the update of the OS via Kies or OTA. Depending upon how tech savvy you are, you can flash an OS update which may not be official by Cyanomod.

It looks like you're with Sprint so you'll have the obligatory extra wait period. First Google updates, then Samsung has to put their Touchwiz spin on it...then the rest of the world gets the update...then we wait for USA carriers to test and add their junk to it...then we get it.

So far, we've gotten updates about 3 months after they've been released (on the Galaxy S3). What I can say is that Samsung is a lot better at it than HTC is, at least lately. The flagship HTC One X is STILL waiting for Jelly Bean 4.1.1...which the Galaxy S3 has had since early December.

If quick updates are important to you, your only choice is definitely a pure Google phone like the Nexus 4. If the Nexus 4 had LTE I would totally have ditched my S3 just for the pure Google experience...even though I love my S3.

Yeah I'm with Sprint... I know so many people with the galaxy phones and hear how awesome they are. I will just have to wait and see from news and previews which phone I should upgrade too. My upgrade isn't until July 1st so I have time to see lol.

You should do some field research in a store since you are the one using the phone. The Galaxy S line has and will continue to smoke the competition for years to come. This is coming from a former BlackBerry user.

OMG I had a Blackberry Storm (first smart phone) and oh how much I hated LIFE lol. Then I got my first Android in the Nexus S 4G and loved it. But now it's just way to behind and slow. I need some up to date fast device.

Motorola is really bad at updating there devices, worse than Samsung!

Motorola is bound to have its own touches. I would doubt that it would be stock Android. The GS4 will most likely blow it out of the water. The GS3 was released almost one year ago and is still beating newly released devices.
