Samsung Galaxy J3 6 Storage

Hello everyone

I am trying to make my J3 use the SD card internal memory instead of external because, for some stupid reason, Verizon decided to use the 8GB model instead of the 16GB. When I look up how to do this, it seems pretty simple. Insert SD card, wait for the phone to have a drop down that says "Set up SD Card" or "Cancel" then go through the set up. However, when I insert my SD card, this notification never appears. Is this due to my phone and KNOX, my SD card not having the feature of being able to be internal storage, or something else? I understand that using the SD card as internal storage can slow processes down but, now every time I try to download an app, it give me the Insufficient storage message.

Even though the J3 is running Marshmellow, Samsung has disabled using adoptable storage. See this link to turn on adoptable storage: https://www.xda-developers.com/enable-adoptable-storage-for-galaxy-s7-and-s7-edge/

It says for S7, but I have done it on a J3 and it works just fine.
