Samsung Galaxy J3 Orbit - How to set to make a sound when text arrives

Hi,

First, let me say that I'm not hugely techie, but I can find my way around a phone. I have a Galaxy J3 Orbit and am looking for a way to have it make a sound when a text arrives. Presently, it does nothing. I looked in Settings, but didn't see anything immediately helpful. Can somebody tell me, step-by-step, how to do this? I would be forever grateful. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Android Central! It can be a little tricky when trying to help someone with a different, older phone, since menu structures can differ.

First, open the Messaging app, then tap Menu>Settings, and look for a notification option there. If you see one, make sure it's set up there correctly. If you can't find an option there, then go to the system settings, then Apps, and select Messaging. Look for notification options there.
