Hello guys,

Sorry, I know it's not exactly THE forum to post this on, but does anyone have any experience with Boingo WiFi? Especially in Japan... I'm wondering if it's going to be worth spending the 8 bucks to get the 'Premium' service or is this really an easier way to hook up to free WiFi hotspots? I've been browsing through some of the listed hotspots and it seems that most are free ones like Starbucks and such... But I wonder if having Boingo would keep me from having to buy an 8 dollar latte to get WiFi there :P

Not sure of Boingo, I've only used gogo (in an airplane) and it was really slow. Is the $8 a one time fee or monthly or what?

Do you live in Japan???

Well I read that the GoGo partnership allows you to use the service through your Boingo account but the service is still on GoGo. As for the fee it's 8 bucks a month but if it's just to connect to already free hot spots then I don't see the point in getting the premium service.

I don't live In Japan But I'll be going there on business for a few weeks and I saw Boingo and thought it might be useful.

Oh gotcha. Yeah I'm not sure I guess, never used it.

And I'm jealous of your Japan trip! Always wanted to go there.

It's really nice! The culture is so different and everyone is so polite and traditional while still being modern as heck. I hope you can visit there sometime, I got lucky enough to have my company pay for the trip hehe

Just a word of advice if you do ever go: Hop into the subway at rush hour only once to live out the experience. BUT THAT'S IT. It's really what a canned tuna must feel like.
