Sam Galaxy Note 5 displays incorrect time/time zone.

For some reason my Note 5 has started to display the time zone as central daylight time (which is wrong), rather than the correct time zone of eastern daylight time, and as a result, the clock is off by one hour. This is something that I started noticing yesterday. I know I can just turn off the automatic setting, but as I travel a lot I would really like to be able to keep the setting on automatic. I recently updated the phone to marshmallow, so I don't know if that has anything to do with this incorrect time issue or not. I've tried, restarting the phone, updating the PRL, setting it to airplane mode for a while, and flat out turning the phone off and back on again...none of which has corrected the time issue. I'm not in a roaming area either. I'll go out later and drive around to see if maybe it's just a cell tower issue, but is there anything else I can try to fix this time zone problem? Thanks.

Hi and welcome to Android Central forums!

All I really saw in that paragraph you wrote, is I updated to marshmallow! LOL. The bottom line is that update has caused lots of issues with people's phones. And it would appear that some are able to be fixed by simply doing a partition cache wipe.

However yours may require a full factory reset.

Before you do the full factory reset, be sure to get back up all of your personal files that you would be worried about losing. You can also download a program called smart switch for your computer and your mobile where you will be able to backup your important files photos documents etc. Remembering this, that smart switch, does bring over all of your apps as you had them before, but it will not bring over the settings or data that was saved in a chat. There are other programs out there, helium for an example, is one that will back up all of those settings. I do believe your Google account if set to backup data, will do that. Just do a little research though, wouldn't want you to lose anything important.

Hope this helps, have a great day!

Forgot to mention, you can go into recovery mode to do the cache partition wipe. You will not lose any data with that method.

Re: Sam Galaxy Note 5 displays incorrect time/time zone.

Well I did the cache partition wipe, and it didn't resolve it. But, I drove around town and didn't have any problems with the time reading correctly, it was only incorrect while I was at home. However, today the time is reading correctly while at home, so maybe it was just a cell tower thing (I'll check with Sprint to see if anything is going on). I backed up all my data with smart switch, so if the problem comes back then I'll just try the factory reset. Thanks for your help!
