samsung galaxy note II facebook app

what does it actually do? out of nowhere i got a notification that my facebook log in had expired(after 2.5 months?) anyways i logged back in and it said samsung wanted access to my facebook info. not sure why it needed this. should i just remove the app from facebook? any benefit to keeping it?
