samsung Galaxy photo Gallary

I got my samsun Galaxy Axiom back in feburary and in the past week or so when I try to use the photo Gallery it freezes on me and I cant do anything and ends up closing. this is causing problems when I want to send a pic to some one or show someone picture or anything like that. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?
