Samsung Galaxy reboots when USB plugged in, why does it do this?

Samsung galaxy reboots when USB plugged in

I have the verizon galaxy s3 and everytime i plugged in the USB cable from my computer the phone turns off and instantly tries to reboot and repeats off and on and off and on.
Without being connected with USB, the phone works normally.

I was trying to restore my contacts and texts through Kies because i backed it up using kies.

It has to be diagnosed step by step. Check the connector. Different cable. Different computer. Different motherboard. Probably not something you're set up to do at home.
