Samsung Galaxy S3 and S2 tipped for Jelly Bean upgrade soon | CNET UK

If this is dropping in the UK first, I would expect every other mobile carrier, besides Sprint, to have it by the end of 2012 or early 2013. As for Sprint, they will roll it out slowly with a confirmed date sometime in March but back peddle into June and slowly release it around this time next year. :p

...and then pull the update because of too many "problems".

It will be ages until/if ever this phone gets a jellybean ota. The global version will surely get one but not us. That being said, a flashable rom will be available very soon :D

This whole ICS and now Jelly Bean is giving me flashbacks to the Vista then quickly roll out 7 days!

LOL@Sprint! Seriously I have no faith that Sprint will roll out Jelly Bean to SGII phones, they couldn't even do ICS correctly!

the only bad thing about ICS from sprint is that it does drain your battery... MY update was a little glitchy but for those of you using the sprint touchwiz version, if you back up everything and factory reset your phone the glitches and the rigid feel of the operating system goes away. you even get a confirmed message of ICS finished installing. for those of you experiencing problems try the factory reset!:)

If i'm being optimistic, they could roll out ICS to EVERYONE, with all the known problems fixed and then MAYBE hop on the train to get JB sometime before this phone becomes COMPLETELY obsolete.

...yeah, thats never going to happen. :/

That won't work. Tried it today and got the same results.

Be optimistic about world peace before this happens!

I'm not sure about that....from what I've read Samsung provides the firmware and Sprint's engineers test it out...or one would think they do.....it's Sprint who rolls it out after they decide the firmware is okay.....This isn't the first time Sprint has stopped a OTA update.....I had a LG Optimus S phone which got the update for Gingerbread...it was so messed up with bugs that Sprint pulled that update as well after all the complaints from Sprint customers.....I blame Sprint for this failed ICS.....my SGII isn't as bad as what I've read from others but I'll be going down to a Sprint store to ask them to put back GB....sigh......

Good luck with that. I already went to two Sprint stores to ask about them putting GB back on my phone. They said, nope, sorry can't do it. They will probably even tell you, you are the 1st to report any issues with the ICS update. After reading through all the forums, it sounds like we're getting the same song and dance.

:D Took my phone into a Sprint store here in Honolulu, Hawaii.....they put back GB on my phone in 30 minutes...no questions asked....tech told me they have been rolling back to GB for many customers.....he did mention there was another update after initial ICS update....told him I never got it....he suggested I not do ICS update right away if another one is released....Hahaha!:p
