Samsung Galaxy S2 won't recognize external storage devices

I have a Samsung Galaxy s2 8.0

Ever since I got it, I've had no problem connecting a usb flash drive, my Kobo ereader and my android phone to the tablet to transfer files.

For some reason, it has stopped recognizing all of them. I tried different OTG cables, restarted all devices, but no luck.

The tablet still recgonizes the SD card in the sd card slot but nothing connected to the micro usb port. Usually if I plugged my ereader and phone into the Samsung they would charge as well. Not anymore. When I plug the samsung into a wall charger it charges with no problem. The same with a backup battery.

Any ideas how to fix this? (I should say that when I restarted the Samsung it went dead and I had to do a soft reset to start it up.)

Im assuming you have rebooted phone. Ie pulled battery, sim, sd, etc...
Ie the ultimate reset???

It's a tablet, not a phone.....so no sim, no removable battery. I've done everything else and just waiting to take it to Best Buy so their Samsung people can look at it before I do the ultimate reset.
