Samsung Galaxy S3 4G problems

I purchased the Samsung Galaxy S3 international unlocked version, and I live in the U.S. I am using t-mobiles monthly4G service but not getting 4G connectivity.

Does anyone know why, and how I can fix this?

International versions aren't able to use the 4G network in the united states. You are able to use HSPA+.

TMO = T-Mobile version. You can't use the international version because it doesn't have a 4G radio inside it.

As said international version does not have 4g radio, you will need to get the tmo version.

That is the reason why there is a Dual Core Chip in the US version vs a Quad Core in the Int'l version. Quad Core doesn't work with 4G.

Problem there was with LTE. Tmobile and AT&T refer to their HSPA+ network as "4G" also.

This is also why the US versions have the Qualcomm Snapdragon SOC instead of the Exynos Quad-Core SoC that the International version has.

The Qualcomm S4 Snapdragon SoC has the 4G LTE radio built-in. The Exynos 4 SoC, which is what the international version uses, does not.

It's my understanding that HSPA+ will only work with AT&T on the international version. You will only get Edge on T-Mobile.

T-Mobile uses 4G frequencies that are not compatible with the international version. I swear I read that somewhere.

I talked to a T-mobile spokesperson extensively last night about importing a phone. She said that T-mobiles HSPA+ network runs on the AWS, which is a 1700/2100mHz band. I asked her if since the european Galaxy S III only has the 2100mHz band, if I will only get EDGE speed, since it says on their compatibility checker that phones without the 1700mHz band will only get EDGE speeds. She responded by saying that it would work on 3G/HSPA+ because T-mobile uses AWS for their 3G.

tl;dr
According to a T-mobile representative, as long as your movil has the 1700mHz band OR the 2100mHz band, it will work on T-mobile's 3G network.

The UK variant of the GS3 supports HSPA+21 (850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100), which here in the US is considered 4G. The difference between HSPA+ and LTE marketing is that HSPA+ is branded "4G" and LTE is branded "4G LTE". I'm not sure if this would work with T-Mo's 4G network, but it might work with At&t's 4G. I've been considering the International/UK variant of the GS3 and getting a pre-paid account with T-Mo or At&t, preferred T-Mo if I can get a GS3 to work with it.

What speeds does LTE bring? I think LTE wasn't necessary, if you ask me. With regular 4g, I would get up to 12mbs.
