Samsung Galaxy S3 Battery Drain - Screen

Most days I get around 7-8hrs of battery life and that is with light use. Checking emails occasionally and light browsing now and again. Surely I should get more than that?

This is with a black background, lowered screen brightness, no sync.

I have done a factory reset, installed wakelock detector however the phone is only awake about 20% of the time, and bought a new official battery.

Today I got less than 3 hours when using Google Maps for 30 mins. Now it is almost dead.

Anyone think of anything else it could be? it is really just the screen that uses up the battery so I guess it couldn't be a faulty SanDisk SD card?

Cheers
Chris

I have read other posts and tried various fixes but nothing has worked.

Welcome to the forums. What was up with the 2 reboots you had?

Same problem.
Seems like it started with an upgrade the os in the past.
The battery would not even go up in % when connected to my laptop because it was draining so fast.

Even a reboot didn't help.

I noticed location service was turned on so I will see if it stops draining so fast after disabled.

That seems to have helped as the phone was getting hot and not it is cooler.

Anytime you experience problems following an OTA it's a good idea to reboot in Recovery mode and clear the system cache, then to perform a Factory Reset (being sure to make a backup first). This will help to minimize strange behavior.

If you'd really like help analyzing battery life it's a good idea to post the three screenshots from the Battery view (main page; History details; Screen on).

For me it looks like turning off Location service made the problem of eating up the battery very fast go away.
I'm surprised that it has such a negative effect on my device. It seems to act up sometimes.
