Samsung Galaxy S3 Kitkat Update Cancellation

Since the announcement that the S3 International will not be getting the KitKat update, my confidence in Samsung has been shaken. I'm due for a free upgrade in November and I'm not sure if I will get another Galaxy smartphone. Maybe a Nexus smartphone next time. Has anyone else had their confidence in Samsung knocked in regards to Samsung supporting their flagship smartphones?

actually, older iDevices stop getting updates, and eventually die out cause apps have a minimum iOS requirement.

iOS 7 is supported by iPhone 4 in presence of iPhone 5S, (iphone4 is 3 model less than 5S) on the other hand Galaxy S4 received kitkat but SGS3 not...
