Samsung Galaxy S3 Mega Battery Drain(please read)

I had a similar problem and downloaded an app (battery doctor). This app is brilliant it not only detects and shuts down anything draining my battery but it informs me of anything it is unable
to rectify (has not been a problem so far).
I suggest you give it a go and if it fixes your problem.

Thanks for the above hint on data using apps.
My phone (S3 4.1.2 on 3) would suddenly start to use massive amounts of battery, while stationary beside the bed, which would continue until a restart. This was 16% over 15 hours to 34% over 2.5 hours. Checking data use this seemed to be down to Google Calendar. Now has restricted data access. I will report back.

Hello I am a new user and am not happy with my phone though I love my SG note 4G but its way below xpectation...I am having irritating massive battery drain and it takes longer time to charge which even more maddening. Pls any one out there that can help solve this probem?

I had similar battery drainage issues. In my case I switched to cdma only and the issue is resolved. Sprint is working on all their towers so my phone was popping in and out of 4g 3g every half mile. ... causing my phone to constantly look for a signal and cause high battery drainage. Now I'm only in 3g but it's consistent and fast.

The search button is your friend. There are many threads about battery life in these forums. Read them, and see if anything applies to you. At a minimum, give us something to work with. Take screenshots of the battery usage screens you'll see in some of the posts below. We can't diagnose a problem without data.

Is there an easy way to root for non-technologic people? I did what he said to do in the video, and there was no tar file for me to move. So, I give up at this point.

Welcome to the forums!
I cannot find Developer Settings ANYWHERE in my phone's settings.
Developer options is hidden by default; to unhide it navigate to Settings -> More (if using the Tab view) -> About phone and tap on 'Build number' seven times.

That depends on your model/carrier/firmware version. You could try http://towelroot.com - select the lambda symbol, download the apk, install it and run it.

What is it that you need to root for? I don't normally recommend rooting unless there's a specific need - it can sometimes lead to more trouble than it's worth.

I had stopped using my Galaxy Mega for 6 months when this happened to me. Turns out it's pretty ****ing popular among Galaxy S devices but this guide fixes it and tells you EXACTLY what is wrong - I'm not allowed to post links but it's an article on the TECHSPLURGE so if you google it im sure it'll come up.
You're welcome
