Samsung Galaxy S3 Verizon Release Date?

You won't see this phone until the end of the summer. This phone will definitely not be released in June. It takes about a month after the carrier's announcement for a phone to get released and we are still a ways off from that.

Once a phone goes gets approved by the FCC it has to go through carrier branding and testing, then get OEM skinned accordingly. Verizon may take the longest out of the 4 major US carriers to do this.

Let's not forget what happened with the US release of the SGSII. It took 6 months after its release in Europe for the US to see a variant, and it never made it to Verizon.

It never made it to verizon because they got the nexus?

There's no way I buy this in Sept. Why wouldn't you wait a few more months for the next Nexus. By that time there'll be a bunch of better phones announced as well.

I have to agree, I would probably just wait until the holidays, when the new generation phones are usually released. I will say that the S3 seems to be pretty future proof. IF it gets updates. To be honest I am sick of the fragmentation on android.

Fragmentation should only really bother developers. Only real question for users is, when is my device getting an update? Maybe app compatibility as well.

Never had any issues finding compatible apps for my Skyrocket. I don't have ICS yet, but there are leaked versions if you are in a real hurry.

Guess I am just saying, do we really care about other phones? As long as the ones we have are taken care of, we shouldn't care, right?

Unless you're a developer, then I would be upset.

So is there a chance in hell now that it comes out before they nuke unlimited data? Starting in June is great, but ending when?

September seems right for Verizon, they will once again be the last of the "big four" to release this phone. I am curious however where you got this release date info, you seem pretty certain on that date...

Stainiu I was talking with a Verizon Tech a couple of weeks back and we dicussed Big Red in general.. I expressed my concerns that AT&T seemed like the Intel of phone companies.. I feel they spotted Verizon the 4G Network when they had the resourses to stay up with them.. Remember how Intel let AMD do its thing and they captured more of the market share than Intel ever thought they could..Then Intel said " We better get busy " Enter the Core 2 Duo and Intel has never again taken their foot off the gas.. Its seems like AT&T is now doing the same thing.. They are getting ALL the Phones, SII, G-Note, Lumina900, OneX, They have all the damn phones.. Verizon hasn't gotten a major phone since the GN ( The Maxx was just a battery bump.. ) he kinda let it slip we are getting the S3 but it has not even passed validation testing yet.. Bionic = 9/11.. S3 = 9/12.. It can't be ready in 18 days like the Canadian Version.. July ? eh? maybe but knowing Verizon it will be a September release nobody does August.... and remember you will know more after the update on the new tered family plans.. you know that annoucement is going to come before the S3 :)

You're exaggerating, quite a bit.

Hey Jaj.. How So? On the Date? or the Wi-Fi / 3G - Hotspot % ? For what its worth 2 wks ago Big Red's S3 had not even passed validiation testing.. that's what a tech told me.. Now, I don't know if the Bloatware testing comes before the LTE Tweaking for their network or they test it all together.. I don't have a clue about the proceedures.. I just hear its not done.. and we have not heard a word about the new tered family shared plans.. You KNOW that info is going to come long before the S3.. Hey, if its a July release thats great.. But knowing Big Red.. I doubt it.. They like to make an entrance to the party.. And if you are talking about the Exynos vs S4 I am leaning towards the Quad-Core / Mali 400 because for the rest of 2012 it will be the fastest chipset on the Planet.. And the flexability of Carrier and Plan options the International Version offers Even though it would mean giving up my Unlimited 4G LTE Since either way I would have to pay full retail for the unit.. Either way I have decided to let everything unfold first.. Hell.. there is a thread here now saying Best Buy may get the International Version as well.. If thats true, they really are expecting this cell phone's sales to explode.....

I was told yesterday the Verizon date is July 6th. I trusted the source. Why the wait? Your guess is as good as mine,.

Wow! I just received an email from Verizon. My S3 has shipped today out of West Chester, PA. It said it is supposed to arrive by June 26, but it also said it was being shipped by FedEx 2 day service, so maybe I've have mine on June 24th.
:D

Update: Just got off the phone with Verizon. My device will not ship until the 10th. They are shipping my flip case, sigh!
The email that they sent me was very misleading. They had a link in it that said, "Click here to prepare for your new device"

Doh!
