samsung galaxy s4 turns off but still has 30% battery life

Hi my s4 keeps turning it self off an when I plug my charger in it seems to work fine no problems does anyone know what the problem can be?

The same has happened with my samsung galaxy s4, i have just bought out my contract with o2 for the s4 5 month down the line the battery swells up, i cannot take my phone off charge for more than five minutes, when i do i go to ring someone or use an app and it completely goes off on me, i then try turn my phone back on there is no percentage on my battery, which it was just fully 100% charged. I thought it was a faulty batch of batterys but looks like it is the phone in general. After doing my research i have found out even if i get a new battery it is just going to do the same with the new battery, so my problem is how is this issue being resolved there giving us new batterys yes but it is going to happen again we dont pay good money for a phone for it to be faulty, samsung should take phone back give us our money back and compensation. personally i dont think this should be allowed, someone should report this to watch dog, there is enough of us on here with the same problem and there is enough of us here to make a case.

My s4 turns off at 30% battery life! I tried turning it on but no luck. I need to connect the charger before the phone will boot up. The worst part of it is instead of the battery showing as 30%, it shows 0% as if the battery has totally been drained out. Help!

I had the same problems and my phone only about 2 months old. I even had cut offs at 90% battery life. I switched off auto light adjustment and did it manually and the cut off stopped. Hope I can help someone with the same problem.

Have a good day guys

It is only the China made battery's that have this issue apparently. Mine swelled up and my screen has bent and lofted slightly. Taking to the service centre tomorrow.

I've got he same problem, the mobile started to turn off when I was flicking through apps even when at full charge. However, nothing used to happen if I left the phone in stand by or even during calls. So I decided to leave it turned on for a day, without connecting the adaptor until all the battery drained. Then I gave full charge and, after repeating this procedure for a couple of times, THE PROBLEM SENSIVELY DIMINISHED. Therefore, one thing you should really consider is to NEVER connect the adaptor when you have more than 30% of charge. It may sound weird for a Li-ion battery, but it seems it gets "addicted" to the charging regime. By the way, I bought my S4 Active in Germany, where the problem seems to be a bit more critical

Samsung galaxy grand1 switches off Automatically

Samsung galaxy grand1 has default alert settings for battery status at 30%, 20% and 10%. I have noticed the following.
a) My phone switches off automatically when call comes when battery charge exactly at 30% or 20% or 10%. It never boots when I tried to switches ON. The only way to switches ON is to connect to charger. It is happening frequently since a couple of weeks.
Batter status shows 30% or 20% or 10% after switches ON where it switched off.
b) Battery dried up fast when charge dropped below about 15%.
c) Recently, batter got discharged from 100% to 0% very quickly within 4 hours even though I haven't used much; no power consumption apps/wifi/gps are active. Only once experience it.
d) Also, I notices battery dried when charger connected to phone and power switch is OFF.
f) But battery is normal otherwise.

My phone is 1 yr and 4 months OLD.
Anybody can suggest me what might be root cause and a solution . Batter pack or software or hardware. Thanks.

After reading this I realized that it is a battery issue. I just ordered a cheap but good 3rd party battery today. I wondered If i had bad water damage due to a sever car accident and my phone layed in a puddle of water on the floor. Thought maybe this hurt my battery but the phone worked great for weeks as I was in the hospital and just began its sudden death cap.. Thank you all for your help

having the same issue with my note 2 yesterday it kept freezing then today its been repeatedly booting on and off and wont go past the sprint logo until i plug it into charger then its fine. as soon as i unplug it, it shuts off and repeatedly on and off till i pull battery. battery was at 80 % before this started happening.

This 30% is that battery indicator is broken all you need to do is charge it full and restart it

using SM-G900H KNOX WARRANTY VOID 0X1

Hey All,

I recently had the same issue with my S4 and I came across a very cheap but effective fix. There is an app on the play store called "Real Battery" that scales your battery level down to the percentage it dies it. My phone kept dying at 30% so I set the indicator to 30% and it scaled my battery level so that 30% is my new 0%. It lets you know more accurately when your phone is about to die, so that you won't be fooled when your phone says it has charge. Check it out, its called Real Battery.

Samsung Note 4 phone shutting off while plenty of battery life left. Replaced the battery and the problem persists.
Seems since lollipop was installed by carrier never had the problem before with kitkat. Any suggestions?

I'm having the exact same issue with my S6. I have taken it to a Samsung repair center where they replaced the battery and did a flash reset. 3 days later, I experienced the same thing. My phone reads 30%-40% remaining, but dies while I'm using it. I plug it in and it starts its charge at 0%. So frustrating not knowing when your phone is going to crap out!

I have two S4, personal and corporate. the first one, its battery lasted about one and half year. I was travelling and it was taking whole night and some more to charge 100%. then i bought another battery in first shop i found one, that lasted 3 months, swelled. the third battery had same symptom, was switching off before using all the charge. after many temptatives you all know listed in many forums, my problem was solved wiping the conector, and most importante, inserting a small piece of plastic to the opposite side of conector, so that it presses the conector for best contact.

the second s4 came with defect, it was sent three times, 6 months to get repaired. at last they told that changed the mainboard, and finally is working well.

I used to charge them every night, all night, so I had full charged to go to work. this practice is not recommended, after 3 initial full charge and full discharge, i was told to not charge more than 3 hours, that is enough to get 100%. nowadays i wait the recharge warning.

Same issue with my wife and my Note 4's. Factory Reset hers and rolled back from Lollipop, and problem goes away, mine continues. With Lollipop, it seems like there are bugs making the phone do this even to a good battery.

Re: samsung galaxy J7008 turns off but still has more than 20% battery life

Hi All
I have using this phone for almost a month now. my phone seems to switch off at around 20 - 30% of battery life. My friend had brought this from China. And it also shuts down when a lot of applications are open at the same time.
Please help me sort this out.
:'(:'(

I was having same problem with note 4 buying new battery didn't help but I took battery out and used can of air and sprayed it down and charging port seems to be working fine now at 26 % and hasn't shut off
