Android Central Question

This question has been answered previously (2016) but I was wondering if any new solutions might have come to light since (other than get a new phone lol).

Samsung Galaxy S5, Android Version 6.01

Phone operates normally when awake. However, the screen, home and return buttons will flash upon waking (with either home or power button) and the screen remains black.

This problem is intermittent but getting steadily worse. I can wake the phone and screen turns on normally some of the time but not always.

The screen will frequently turn on successfully if I plug the phone into a power outlet and let the battery charge a few minutes.

I have:
rebooted in safe mode
deleted recently installed apps
turned off notification on locked screens
reset caches

I've previously read this could be a result of a voltage problem going to the screen on waking. Not sure if that is definitive.

Thoughts? questions?

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to Android Central! If it happens in Safe Mode, then it's either a firmware problem or hardware problem. The only thing I can think of that you can try (besides bringing it to a repair shop) is to reinstall the firmware using Kies: www.samsung.com/africa_en/support/m...y-firmware-recovery-for-my-device-using-kies/
