i mistakenly set up fingerprint security on this device

I would like to remove it

when I go to settings>security

the option clear credentials is grayed out

How can I fix this problem and remove all fingerprint requirements

You should see a Lockscreen option or a Biometrics one there, referencing the Fingerprint Scanner. Tapping that (and after authentication) you should be able to disable FPS as the lockscreen option.
