Samsung Galaxy S6 restarting randomly

Hey everyone,

I've been having problems with my battery life on my S6 anyway for some time now.. I factory reset it once before but the battery is still running down at a ridiculous speed. Not sure if it's because I run apps that are battery hungry, or just because there's something wrong with the battery.
Anyways, despite that, which is a separate problem I guess, my phone has randomly started resetting itself. One time I looked over and it was doing it, and I thought maybe it was just a one off. But I left the room earlier today and came back and usually where I use the fingerprint scanner to log in it said that it needed password due to device restart. It's kind of concerning me as I don't really have the money for a new phone right now so is there any way I can figure out what's wrong with it?

Also, another thing, whenever I go to wipe the cache (pressing the home, volume up and power button) it loads up saying it's installing an update and then it shows that the update failed (with the droid passing out animation). Why would this have happened? My phone is on the latest Marshmallow update.

When the little robot dies, l press the volume up button and that opens the dialog that lets you wipe cache partition. Just be careful what you choose before you push the power button lest you factory reset it!

Here are the steps for wiping the cache: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-21095

For your battery drain issues, it would help to see some battery stats. Charge up to 100%, then let it drain to 20-30% with normal usage, without charging in between. Then show us:

1. The main Settings>Battery screen.
2. The fullscreen battery graph screen (which shows Awake time and Cell Signal Strength).
3. The Screen category (to see total Screen On time).
4. The Cell Standby category, if present (to see Time Without Signal).

You might have to install a 3rd party battery monitor, like GSam Battery Monitor, to get the Cell Signal Strength graph.

If there's an app that is using an unusual amount of battery, it might also be malfunctioning and therefore making the system unstable, thus causing a random reboot.

Hey, I think I've done this correct. I've attached all the screenshots below. Just in case it is mentioned, yes LINE is using up a lot of battery in these screenshots but I had battery problems before I was using LINE as I've only been using it a few days.

However it's the Android system that seems to be eating a lot in my opinion. My screen time is pretty bad too in retrospect, considering even when I don't use the phone as much it runs down so quickly.

I can try and post other more accurate ones at some point but this is with normal usage for me. (though sometimes I use it a lot more, say if I'm streaming a video or something). I don't understand the signal strength chart so if anyone could explain that to me that'd be awesome haha.

Also, for some reason, I'm having my phone tell me my phone's battery has been using WiFi a lot (see the screenshot) when it hasn't even been on. I have wifi scanning off and set to always sleep.

Hmm, I can't quite make heads or tails of those stats. It looks like the phone radio is using a good chunk of battery as well--have you been making a bunch of calls? Can't explain why wi-fi has been kept on (although it looks like it's hardly using any battery to begin with).

Try booting into Safe Mode and try to use your phone this way for a day. Does Android System still use that much power? https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-29226

No I have been making any calls at all really! It's always this way for some reason. I'm not sure why the phone radio uses so much battery. The wifi shouldn't be using any either since I don't use WiFi.

Okay Ill have to try safe mode at some point I guess. (need to use the phone today so it'll have to be Monday). Will report back once I know.

I usually expect to see that kind of Phone Radio battery usage when cell signal is spotty, but it looks like it's been pretty consistent for you.
