SAMSUNG Galaxy S6 with Marshmallow 6.0.1 can not install Android Auto app

[AC Question]

Just got my Volkswagen Passat GTE. Want to use AA, but it will not connect. Using cable that came with Phone. Looking for AA app on Google Play, but it does not show. Goes to Google Play on the Internet and there it says that 'this app is not compatible with your device'... I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 (model )

The requirements says "The Android Auto app links new cars that support Android Auto to Android 5.0+ phones (Lollipop or Marshmallow). Have a compatible car and phone? Just plug your phone into your car’s USB port to get started!"

Any help is deeply appreciated.

Where do you live? Most likely it is because Android Auto is not available in your country yet. Just download the apk file from apkmirror and install it on your device. It works like a charm.

On Google's help site, it indicates Samsung had to release an update for Marshmallow specifically to address issues with Android Auto. Make sure you have all the latest updates....

My Samsung S6 edge with marshmallow works fine with Android Auto.
