Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge UK train company claiming mobiles erasing magnetic strip on train tickets

I had a bizarre conversation with a two different UK South West Trains ticket agents when I complained that the magnetic strip wasn't working on two recent train tickets. They claimed it was my mobile. I did change my case to a thinner case rather than a more sturdy one. I just wonder if that could be true? Same phone just different thinner Spigen case that's see clear thin plastic that allows wireless charging. Opinions?

I've kept train tickets inside my phone case before, between back of phone and inside of case and never had a problem, this was with a note 4.

I have had hotel key cards erased when I put then in the same pocket as.my phone.
