Samsung Galaxy S8 camera has never worked

I have a Samsung S8 in which the camera has never worked but the problem was not picked up as it is a secondary phone and not the daily use one. The well respected tech guy tried changing the camera hardware but that did not fix the problem. We tried rooting the phone but that didn't work and now with the help of super mod mustang we have just flashed the firmware to the latest and greatest but the camera still does not work, unbelievably?
It seems that it is neither a software nor a hardware problem?
Does anyone have any advice that might shed some light on this problem?
Thanks

Could be a bad motherboard/logic board.

Even if the camera hardware is fine, the connection to the board or the board itself may have damage.

I used to assemble electronics for John Deere, it's ridiculous but true that a static shock too weak for us to even feel can cause micro cracks to circuitry invisible to the naked eye. Literally a small crack in a connection not visible without a microscope could be why it's not working.

Thank you for your response and advice.
Yes it could be something like this I guess.

When I click on the Camera icon it tries to load and for a nano second I can see the white Camera button and the front camera selection button then it reverts to the Home screen.

I did see a couple of times a message that said something like
“you cannot use more than one application that uses camera at the same time. Camera will close”.

Also just noticed that in the Camera App info screen that the Set as default is greyed out with None set as default in blue text showing??

Thank you for that I just downloaded and ran the Diagnostics and it said my Cameras are not working?
I sent the Error log to somewhere with a note saying that the camera has never worked.
I currently do not have either a sim card or sd card in the phone would this make a difference?
Although originally we had a sim card and the problem was present then?

Since you presumably got this phone used or refurbished, I would guess that the camera was already faulty when you got it (and perhaps that's why the seller was trying to unload it). SIM or SD card would have no effect. If you wanted to get it working, you'd probably have to bring it to a repair shop, but the cost may not be worth it for a secondary phone.

yes it was bought as new manufacturer rebuilt from memory. I did originally take it to a repair shop who actually changed the camera for me but it still didn't work. This pointed to a software problem which it appears it is not as new firmware just installed.??
It would have just been now very handy if the camera was working?

I don't think that necessarily means it's a software problem. Maybe there's an issue with the connector on the motherboard.

Ok yes you could be right when I think about it. In fact as I have ruled out both software and hardware as the cause then that is most likely the answer. I will take it back to the repair shop. and explain it to him.
Thank you to all who have tried to assist with this one.
