Samsung galaxy s8 screen dims when in low light

Galaxy s8 continues to adjust brightness level depending on the light. In the sun it is bright and clear but in low light goes noticeably darker
Auto adjust brightness is turned off and no power saving features are enabled
Is there a way to keep the level of brightness i get when in full sun without having it go dim once in a low light area?
If anyone has a fix or any solutions for this it would be much appreciated

it should stop doing this when you disable auto brightness!
double check that it's turned off.

Turning off auto adjust is the way to do that. If it still auto-adjusts, you may have corrupted firmware. The "fix" would be to reflash the firmware (but since that would wipe the phone, you'd have to back everything up first [see Backing up an Android Device], flash it, then restore everything.)
