Samsung Galaxy SIII vs. HTC One X vs. Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocke

Re: Samsung Galaxy SIII vs. HTC One X vs. Samsung Galaxy SII Skyr

Op needs to wait until next Thursday and try all 3 phones out. Telling him/her specs don't do anything to help make a decision.

OP does not care about specs. Only cares about a good phone that gets the job done. Read his/her post. The Skyrocket was $39 on Amazon the other day. OP even mentions that he/she can get it for $10.

So he asked what makes the gs3 better for another 190. Op never said he/she doesn't care about specs only that op is not a techy person and doesn't understand a whole lot. There is a reason OP made this thread so let us suggest just as you will and stop changing the original post. I don't know what you see in the post.
op should wait it out and check out the phone in person and make a decision.

Totally agree. At the end of the day, it is all about personal preference and what works best for the OP. The HOX and GS2 are already available so go to the store and test them out.

There are comparison videos on Phonearena and Android Authority. Both sites also have SG3 international version reviews. Heels & Tech had a pretty good comparison vs the HOX. Do some more research. That's what I did as I am trying out the android OS platform after six years on the RIM platform.

It was more implied than literary there. Here the OP says he/she wants a phone that just works:

I am not a high-tech person and I really don't understand the difference between one-two-or-four quad processor things, I just want a great phone that works well for apps, photos, etc.

Do you really think this person would see a big difference besides the screen size? The Skyrocket will be enough. For $10, as he/she specified, it's a better deal and an obvious choice. I know since we are in the GS3 forum, we're riled up for the next big thing. Not everyone is like that. Next year, you would tell him/her, he/she should get the GS4 instead of GS3.

Re: Samsung Galaxy SIII vs. HTC One X vs. Samsung Galaxy SII Skyr

I'm extremely lost on how some reviews are citing the One X as 'faster' than the S3. Marginally better screen? Sure. Everything else comes down to personal preference. As far as your question, OP, you can't go wrong with any of the 3. Financially it makes sense to get the Skyrocket, but if you're willing to spend some time to learn how to use your phone as most of us here do, you'd appreciate the technology packed into the S3 and One X.

Money wasn't an issue and you were willing to learn how to use Android and all it has to offer? Get an S3. Not worried about the technology and just want a phone that's not expensive? Skyrocket.

Re: Samsung Galaxy SIII vs. HTC One X vs. Samsung Galaxy SII Skyr

I know i don't. I get bored with my phones real fast. I'll get a new phone every few months. But the OP said he is not tech savy, most people who are not tech will not buy a phone as often as us. :P

People still do that?

/sarcasm... But really, especially people who frequent sites like this. Maybe I can go 18 months with one phone, but by then I'm seriously ready to get something new... Though I am getting to the point where I'm starting to care less and less about the latest and greatest and more about what "just works and has the features/capacity I need."

Re: Samsung Galaxy SIII vs. HTC One X vs. Samsung Galaxy SII Skyr

If the OP is coming here his days as a "non-tech saavy person who doesn't care about the latest and greatest" are numbered.

These sites are like vampires... We will turn him/her sooner than later.

Mark my words :-)

Re: Samsung Galaxy SIII vs. HTC One X vs. Samsung Galaxy SII Skyr

Since I am in the same boat as OP, it's best to compare apples to apples (no pun intended).

She's comparing prices of a REFURB Skyrocket with a NEW One X or GS3. Where Amazon is concerned, the price comparison is currently $80 vs. $120 vs. $150. Nobody sells NEW Skyrockets for $10 and ATT will also charge her FULL sales tax on the NON-CONTRACT price of the Skyrocket on top. At the end of the day, we're talking about a $70 difference between the GS2 and GS3, which isn't that large. I have also been deliberating between the Skyrocket and GS3 and I've decided it makes sense to spend the extra $$ since there will likely be FAR more development with the GS3 due to so many carriers offering it, not to mention the HD screen, faster processor, 2 gigs RAM, better camera, ICS and of course, S Voice ;)

I almost pre-ordered one today, but decided that they will probably be in stores in about a week, so I can hold out a bit longer. And who knows.. maybe the price on the GS3 WILL drop further. Regardless I'm excited about it and am SO ready to dump my antique iP3G.

I have a Skyrocket and if its only $10, you can't go wrong with that. The GSIII will just be over kill for you imo

I agree the skyrocket is a sleeper phone, its really great I had one, then got an htc one x, had nothing but problems with it, went back to my skyrocket then got the international GS3 and to be honest the skyrocket was so great I think just just a tick under the GS3. As far as functionality I do exactly the same things on both devices exactly the same, my skyrocket is my trusty backup.

I use the same launchers, the same locksceeen on my skyrocket and my GS3 but the display on the GS3 is better, not by miles but its better. The radios on both phones are great where the HTC One X has serious radio problems across the board- just check out their forum, its littered with complaints from botched multitasking to system wide data issues. I will never leave samsung again after all that...

Re: Samsung Galaxy SIII vs. HTC One X vs. Samsung Galaxy SII Skyr

Hey folks.. Just saw this on Phone Arena and am wondering if she is referring to this deal which is NOT on the Skyrocket, but instead the GS2: AT&T prices the Samsung Galaxy S II at $9.99 until June 17th

If so, then there's no comparison since the S2 is not an LTE phone. Otherwise, the only way to get a Skyrocket for $10 (plus tax on non-contract price) is to buy a refurb. And from what I've seen on refurbs I would stay away completely.

Been using the one x for about a month. No radio problems. Multitasking is however broken on it and pissed me off enough to exchange it. Other than that I love the phone. Every app restarts when pulling it up with the multitasking option. HTC totally f'ed it up.

....& what have you seen that was a issue on refurbs?

I had the original S2 refurb for thirty days & the thing looked/responded as brand new. No scratches, nothing different other than your total phone cost shipped to your door is less than $10.50.

As far as the warranty goes, mfg defects are the only thing that is covered & you are going to find those long before that expires.

So while I did send it back, it had nothing to do with it being refurbished.

Re: Samsung Galaxy SIII vs. HTC One X vs. Samsung Galaxy SII Skyr

I have had the one x for a week and HTC has simply broken android. It is virtually unusable for me. Wifi reception also sucks. I am hoping to exchange it this week for the S3 assuming it is actually released in store. I am kind of eyeing the Note as well, though.

Re: Samsung Galaxy SIII vs. HTC One X vs. Samsung Galaxy SII Skyr

steve dave.. Interesting comment. As of now, and until next week when reviewers can compare the US GS3 with the One X, most people seem to feel the One X is the best device on the market. I was contemplating getting it myself until I saw all the multi-tasking, email, WiFi, battery and heating issues being reported here. However, what we all know to be true is that the members of AC forums only represent a small portion of the total owners of these devices. It appears you're another One X owner who's not happy. Why do you feel HTC broke Android?

I am mostly referring to multitasking. It is non existent. I haven't experienced anything like it since I had an original iPhone. I also have some issue with sense changes like the calendar and such. I also can't hold a wifi connection in the back half of my home (where I've never had problems with other devices). I feel misled by all the over-complimentary reviews of a device that has such glaring issues.

EDIT: I should also add that I have a real problem buying a phone that advertised 16GB when it only allows about 9GB of media to actually be stored on it.
