Charging with a non Samsung USB wall-charger with higher output did the trick for me right away. You probably have several chargers laying around at home, so just try them one by one. You will know when you get the right one.

Your post may have been a year ago but I'd like to ask you a question. Your advice worked out for me last time so thank you for that. But now I have the same problem again, except when I reboot my tab an x shows on the charging symbol and then the tab immediately turns off, and then after a while it goes back to the loading battery screen and I have to start over again. Is there any advice you could give me regarding this? Does this mean my tab is busted or do I just have to buy another charger?

I had no power, no screen at all, nada.

Did what you said ( "charging" the no-battery unit for an hour ) and it all worked !!!!

You said ......


1) Remove the back cover of your UNPLUGGED tablet. (Youtube has good tutorial videos. This will void your warranty.)
2) Disconnect the battery (small wires leading to a tiny rectangle at the bottom of the board).
3) While the battery is disconnected, PLUG IN the tablet.
4) Reconnect the battery (I felt mine "snap" twice into place).
5) Turn on the tablet (mine came on immediately after I pressed the power button).

I haven't seen a tip like this on other forums, but it's worth a try if nothing else is working for you. Cheers.

I tried holding the on button for 30+ secs. without being plugged in, but it did not work.
Pressing + & - Volume seems to have worked and it seems to be charging now.

Hi my samsung galaxy tab 2 is not turning on or charging and iam very sad the problem occured when 2 days ago in the I tried to turn it on and it wasn't working so I put it to charge the. Battery charge indicAstion was on so I taught it was dead 2 hours later I attempted to turn it on and it didn't work .It had charging issues before so my dad replaced the charger and it charged very fast let me just cut to the chase I am very sad I just want it to work please help me

Mine when plugged in kept cycling between the circle, battery charging icon at 0% then black. If left plugged in all night, it would charge.

I have tried everything except disconnecting the battery.

The fix: while plugged in hold the power button and home button at the same time until it turns on. Worked great for me.

Won't turn on.. Do NOT remove the battery !!
I had the same problem with mine.. would not turn on at all.. If I plugged it into the house charger it would show the battery.. get one Lil blue line them go black.. wud keep cycling that way.. so I searched and found this site.. tried first holding the power button and both up and down volume keys for 20 seconds.. it worked !! Then went right back off again.. So on to the next problem.. The battery is totally dead.. will not charge in the house.. So, out to the car for the second tip on this site.. I'm sitting out in my car and the battery now reads 4% !! Which is better than I had before when it read 0%.. So thank you for the great help !! I almost took off the case to remove the battery !! Thank god I didn't !!
Up to 10% charge !!!

Wow.. did u try plugging it into a car charger before taking it apart? I've never had an issue with any of the Samsung products I own.. more problems with apple.. I have my galaxy 3 phone.. my son is on his 2nd Note but the first one still works the battery just died after 2 years... which is normal for the cheap phones out there now !!!

You can get a replacement battery on amazon, you can also get the tool to open up the case. Get the metal one, I hear the plastic one breaks easy. Start at the part of the case with the volume button, this will give you a gap to work with. There are videos on youtube as to how to do the whole process.

Thanks for this post. I switched my wall charger from a Belkin general charge-all to my little wall adapter to charge my ipod touch and it my Galaxy tab started charging again!

Thanks so much. I was about to open the back and risk voiding warranty.

hope others give this a shot too. its worth it before opening it up.

I've encountered the problem several times before and ended up solving it perfectly by pressing volume buttons. However, this time, nomatter how I press the buttons, my tablet remains "black" and silent. I brought it to the store just to hear that there's some problem with the IC charging. That is not convincing at all. My charging cord was broken ( the battery was also drained) and it took me 3 days to buy a new one. When I first pluged my tab in the charger, it charged properly, so I left it there. When I checked it later, damn, It wouldn't turn on. I tried every single tip ever suggested in this forum, but there's no way I can get rid of the issue.
