Hi,

I'm having a problem charging my new Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (8 inch). It charges fine if with the samsung connector in a plug socket but the same USB connector doesn't charge in a computer. It just says connected as a media device and has a red cross over the battery symbol. The computer does recognise it though as it comes up in My Computer and Device Manager.

I have tried both methods with a non-Samsung charger and that doesn't work in either case.

Is there anything I can do to charge it from the computer?

Thanks

Welcome to the forums.
First, make sure your USB port you are using is powered. It should have dashes underneath the USB symbol. If it does, then my guess is that the power output of the USB port isn't high enough to even register a charge for your device.

Easy answer! I had the identical problem with my Galaxy Tab 8 AND iPad Mini. IF your computer has a USB 3.0 port, plug it in there! The port should have enough power and amps to charge AND run your tablet. When I built my PC, I chose the 3.0 option. Boy am I happy!
