Hello, as you can probably tell from the title, I've been having some issues as of late. My tablet won't turn on, or respond to a charger being plugged in. Whenever I try to boot the tablet into recovery mode, it briefly shows me a black screen, which is much shorter if I also hold the Home button. I would prefer not to send it to a repair shop, as I'm rather short on cash right now. Any help would be much appreciated.

Plug in the charger. Leave it alone for 4 hours. (If the battery is really discharged pretty far, it's going to take up to half an hour before it starts charging - this is known as pre-charge.) Leaving the charger plugged in, try turning it on.
You don't say which Tab A, but if it's the one from 2015, it's almost 4 years old, and the battery is probably about past due for replacement. (Even more so if you regularly let the charge drop down below 40%.)
