Samsung Gear S for preview at AT&T on Fri, 9/26/14

Thanks for the info Gsxr151 and Rellimllc! I have been dying to find any info. $450 is okay, anything above that with the added monthly data plan would be too high, imo. I especially like the bigger band as shown in the artlicle, matches the width of the watch. The smaller and narrower band makes the watch looks bigger.

No problem Sam and Dingster! I'm a nut about this new watch and search daily for any new information. I feel confident that we can rest easy with a release date in October FOR SURE. And yes Sam, I agree with the $450 price. It's going to be a premium that's for sure, but anything more is questionable. Are they going to have insurance??? HA! Tell you what...even more than a release date, I want to see the darn thing in person. Impatiently waiting for Best Buy or my local AT&T store to have a demo.

Wow, $450.. I think I will pass. That is too much for a wearable. I guess I will stick with my 80's calculator watch wannabee.

Yep, it's not for everyone! If you're on a budget but want a great smartwatch, check out the Gear Neo! Just $199 new or less used on ebay, and great tech! There is nothing on the market like the Gear S and it comes at a premium cost.

I have the Gear 2 Neo. I have bought all the Samsung GG versions except for the Gear Live. Was hoping for pricing around 300. At 450 with a data plan, I think I will pass. For me, I would rather buy an unlocked phone for just a little more.

Yes, the $450 does seem high, but like GSXR151 said, there is no other smartwatch like it that has a standalone option with a curve screen. I have also researched other wrist-phones, nothing come close to the Gear S. I think the price would come down a bit next spring when other manufacturers catch up.

Very good point. I forgot about that. Just tired of constantly upgrading the watch. In the last 8 months, I have bought 2 Samsung watches. I was very excited about the GG S.

Ha, I am like you, only that I sold my Galaxy Gear when the Gear 2 arrived. I will soon do the same when the Gear S arrives. Only if the Gear S has a camera and video feature, and a better battery life...I would ditch my phone, and utilize more of my tablet. Perhaps in the next 2 years.

Haha yep....sold my gear 1 for the gear 2, and just sold my gear 2 in preparation for the gear s. Lost money on both, so yes, thank you Samsung. Nice they come out with great tech but some folks feel a bit slighted.

I'm with Gsxr151...I think this would be perfect for my business and personal uses. The 3g connectivity is the sell for me, even if it costs me (actually my company) $10 more per month for a data plan like my LTE Nexus 7. I'm still hoping that Samsung bundles the Note 4 and the Gear S next week while the $200 trade-in offer is still in play. That would be an early Xmas present!

I've followed Samsung for some time now... I am starting to think it's a bit odd that we have not heard a peep on the launch date. As you saw with the Note 4, we usually get a 3 week lead time. My money is still on October, but it's looking slimmer with each day that goes by. I think there is almost no chance of getting it on the Note 4 launch date though. :(

I think the difference between the Note 4 and the Gear S is that the Gear S requires an additional data plan and the Note 4 doesn't, which perhaps the carriers are having a difficult time to figure out a good price point that makes sense to them and their consumers, especially if the device will costs $400+. I am still hopeful that the availability will be in October or November at the latest.

Yeah, that's a good theory. Something seems fishy. Come on Samsung give us somethin' for the US. ;)

Well no info today. Boo. I was hoping today was the day. We're two weeks from the official 125 AT&T location preview and not a peep. What's the point Samsung? Now you're just pissin' off your potential US customers.

It pays to wait a year! I got a brand new one off eBay the other day for $147.
