Samsung Gear S2 not connecting to S8+

I just got the phone yesterday, and it cannot find the watch. I factory reset the watch, and I uninstalled all Watch apps on the phone and reinstalled. With no luck.

Has anyone else seen this? Any solutions?
 
Reset the watch again then download the app again but don't run the app till the watch is asking for the gear app

If you go to the settings menu and scroll all the way to the bottom there's an option that says "connect to new phone". That's what I used to connect my S8+ and didn't have any issues. Watch did a light reset and connected easily.
