Samsung homesync (media centre) to root or not?

Hi there i have a Samsung homesync media centre.

I have 2 annoyances of the device:
* unable to send to tv using YouTube from phone to tv. I've had to side load YouTube for Google TV on the system as it's not available in play store.
* game controller appears as a keyboard in game - asphalt 8. This does not happen when the game is on the phone with the same controller.

Will rooting give the device more functionality and assist with these issues above?
