How to "Root" the Samsung Infuse 4G

This is very simple If this does not work you can get Root by installing a Kernel that has been Pre-Rooted. Will not work on new 2.3.6 Gingerbread update, Works on 2.3.5 and under.
1) Download SuperOneClick
2) Open SuperOneClick, Run as Administrator if needed.
3) On phone go to Setting > Application > Developement > Check USB debugging.
4) Connect phone to PC
5) On SuperOneClick make sure the "Exploit" is set to Auto, Then click root.
6) SuperOneClick should then root your device.
7) If you need any other help Send me a Private Message.

How to "Return to Stock"
Make sure you have Odin 1.8 Downloaded. Also Have the Stock Firmware Dowloaded. If you would like to have Stock + Root + 3e Modded Recovery Download This Firmware

1) Make sure the drivers for the Infuse 4G are installed.
2) Unzip the .zip file.
3) Run Odin3 v1.81.exe (as administrator if you are on Windows 7)
4) Place your phone into download mode (pull battery, press and hold both Volume keys, put battery in and plug the USB cable in)
5) Make sure your phone shows up in Odin as COM##.
5) Click the PDA button and choose the .tar.md5 file in the .zip.
6) Press Start.
7) After it completes, it will reboot your device and should boot up like normal.

Using ClockWorkMod. Download Rom from Below, Make sure CWM is on your phone.

1) Connect phone to PC and move the downloaded rom to your SDCard.
2) Boot phone into recovery(turn off, hold both volume buttons and power at same time, release power when Samsung screen pops up, hold vol buttons for 6 seconds then release)
3) Scroll to "install zip from sdcard"
4) Select "choose zip from sdcard"
5) Scroll using vol keys to the rom placed on sdcard.
6) Hover over rom and hit the power key, then at the next screen scroll down and hit yes.
7) when installation is done, hit "reboot system"

How to flash a Kernel.

Download the kernel you want, Ill post some below. Then depending how you want to flash use the following methods:

Using Odin: Must be .tar extension

1) Put your phone into download mode.
2 ) Open Odin select the .tar file as PDA.
3) Make sure phone is detected as COM##
4) Hit start.

Using CWM: Note must be a .zip extension.

Recovery wont show up?

This happend to me just a couple days back. I flashed "Infusion-GB1.1" using "SGS Kernel Flasher" found on the Market, Then I used "Rom Manager" to flash CWM, Remember to use"GalaxyS i9000 when prompted, Then I rebooted into recovery. It worked, Try it.

Thank you, your hard work makes it easy for noobs like me. This makes it so I can go ahead and experiment and enjoy my Infuse, with a little (a lot) more confidence.

Does that link for the stock firmware you posted include the stock kernel and recovery (and can you flash it from any particular Android version/recovery/kernel combo)? I'm returning my brother's Infuse to complete stock so he can exchange his phone and I just want to be sure before I flash anything.

Thanks!

Its UCKD5, I used that to flash my UCKI4 back to stock and it worked. May not work for all people. I might have gotten lucky.

You can try at your own risk, and you can just flash to the new 2.3.6 GB, that'll be easier and safer.

I will further help if you do go with this and the phone bootloops or anything.

Thanks for making this thread. I have a problem. I downloaded the latest stock rom. Put the .tar in the PDA and it tells me "invalid image type".
