Samsung J7 Prime not charging

Hi. I need help. I've got this Samsung J7 Prime and it's not charging. Tried 4 different cables (all working on a different phone). Tore the unit down and tested voltage on the pins where the battery connects to the board. I get around 4.7V when charger is connected. Every time I plug in the charger, it shows the battery icon with no charge left and the display dies after a few seconds. Plugged it in for 1hr+ hoping it was just drained. Still not charging. Any advice aside from buying a new battery?

Welcome to Android Central! It's an 8 year old phone (and therefore an 8 year old battery), so it's almost certainly because the battery has failed. I think replacing the battery would definitely be the next step.

At this point it's probably more economical to buy a new phone rather than a new battery. Even if you buy a new battery there is a good possibility that it was sitting on a shelf for 8 years making it dead or almost dead.
