I'm not sure if this has been discussed yet or not but just got my S21U in today and I did notice that on my pre installed weather app has ads at the top. I heard about this before and is there away to disable this? I went into settings, privacy, customization service and at the bottom turn off ads and direct marketing. This does no good ads are still pooping up. Any solution for this?

I don't think there is a 100% way to do that unfortunately. You already unchecked the boxes so that was the first step. Now you will get less targeted ads. Definitely not cool though for any phone to do this. Even Samsung's store has ads in it.

Yep it sounds like people aren't paying enough for Samsung phones, so they have to fill the phone with ads to make up the difference ;)

Strange but I've never had a phone come with built in ads at any price. Just lucky I guess :p

I think the ads only show up on American devices. Maybe it is cos it has a Snapdragon chip and they make more money from their Exynos chip phones?

No it's not specific to snapdragon, I have seen plenty of people on reddit with exynos complaining about the same.

Personally haven't seen ads on my snapdragon mainly because I don't use any Samsung apps to begin with (not my preference to use Samsung apps)

I have 4 other accounts on my phone and one was sign out of ads for Google, after doing the others I don't see the ad anymore.

But that's Google though and nothing to do with Samsung IMO. Also turning off Google ad personalization means doesn't turning off ads. It only turns off relevant ads based on your usage data and instead shows you random junk ads across your Google services etc. Personally I rather see relevant ads than junk ads but that's just me.

When you click ads in the weather app then privacy iTunes you there to Google, I haven't been able to remove the ad as of yet but when you clicked those links to opt out it creates a ticket to Samsung, I never had this before so probably came at some point with a update to change something.

I use Blokada as my ad blocker on my S20 FE, but it doesn't block ads in Samsung's apps. In their weather app, the ad is at the bottom most of the time. Occasionally it's at the top.

The attached image has the ad at the very bottom such that I have to scroll down to get to it.

I turn personalized ads off too. The ads I do get may be random, but I never pay attention to them anyway so I really don't care. However, I'd rather they not try to figure me out either.

The only point I was trying to make is Google ad personalization setting has nothing to do with ads on Samsung apps. That's all

At least I don't think it matters since they are separate services and Google ad personalization setting is to control ad setting across your Google services not Samsung apps

Wow thanks didn’t know that !!! That’s good to know that they are linked together
Yeah, I made a ticket within that to Samsung to opt out ads across all Samsung apps and don't sell my data and I received a confirmation email that it's done , not sure how long it will take for not to see those ads now or if it will clear them out
