Samsung might remove headphone jack from future phones?

Right, it's always nice to have options.

People still play music through aux connections in cars and radios where there's no Bluetooth capability.

You're right, I hadn't even thought about the auxiliary cords I use in the company truck.

But I can say once you get used to wireless headphones, it's hard to get used to old school corded ones again.

It's time for it to die. That being said the need to replace it something that is universal.

I don't know about you all, but my beats studio wireless skips a lot with this phone.

Because very often you want to play something... app, video, whatever and not use headphones and be nice to have good sound to go with good video.

If you're getting rid of ports, why have speakers? One of my managers bought two $150 Bose blue tooth speakers a few months ago (good thing he likes iPhones).

There's still the dongle FireWire to 3.5 for those moments. They also provide FireWire connected headphones so all is not lost. It's a change that takes time.

I didn't realize that I haven't used a headphone jack in my last few phones so I personally wouldn't even miss it.

I use a wired headset each and every day.

In my experience the audio quality is better on a wired headset than a Bluetooth earpiece. Not having to repeat myself all the time makes for less frustrating conversations. Plus I like listening to my music in stereo. ;)

When wireless can sound as good or better than wired then I say go for it. Until then, GTFOH with that nonsense.

Didn't Motorola Remove the headphone jack before apple?
Yeah it was removed on the new Z, and Z Force. Funny how apple thinks and most tech blogs think apple is so revolutionary and the first one to do it.

That's why I was wondering cuz even android sites were talking like Apple was the first one to remove the headphone jack, and I thought I had heard the Moto phones did it before.

After apple did it i sat back and said do I need it? I've already moved to Bluetooth in my car and I'm currently looking for good Bluetooth headphones now anyways... ..so it can die it's not really a big deal same thing with cd drives when they removed it i thought it was stupid but then I realized when's the last time I installed software on a disc......Their competitors will use the headphones jack as a marketing ploy to try to get customers for a couple years but they will fold as well ...Same thing that's happening with removable batteries

Problem is that bt has issues sometimes streaming music

I love my Poweramp, where I can aliust plug in my head phones and music automatically starts

This all seems like pure rumors. These websites thrive on it

I heard they were going to remove the screens, and charging ports. The next phones will be surgically implanted into your brain stem, and they would recharge every time you farted.

Samsung has already removed most every other feature I commonly use (with the exception of bringing back the SD card slot), so why not take away one more to make sure I don't use their devices? Lol

A rumor at this time, but if true, I'll be one seriously annoyed bunny.

Didnt like it when Moto and Apple did it. Don't think even Sammy can make me change my stance.

Oh well, I'll probably wait to see what the other OEMs cook up.

People seem to think that the headphone jack is only used in iPhones and smartphones. It's not going anywhere - even if all the smartphones get rid of it. Most people seem to forget that it's still used extensively in other audio applications. I bet your desktop computer speakers are using that jack. I bet your desktop speakers don't have a lightning or USB-C input port for audio - and there is no other standard to replace that type of application. Optical cables aren't replacing them - they are meant to provide digital audio and usually in lieu of RCA jacks. So, I really wish people would stop saying that it has to die just because Apple says so, because maybe if you are in an Apple bubble, you really might think the 1/8" jack is only used for smartphone headphones.

Actually my PC Speakers are USB and where I use tablets, laptops and Surface tablets, I don't really use that jack anymore. To TV I use HDMI. Regardless I think all we care about in this discussion is the 3.5" jack on mobile devices. Moto was the first like someone said. Apple is next. It's started.
