Samsung multi-touch keyboard, I'm not seeing this, please explain!

Swype means you move your finger in a line to touch the letters you want to form a word. It is really cool and makes typing really fast. You don't need to be extremely accurate for the phone to know what word you want.

Na, I understand swype :) just the Samsung keyboard has a sweeping setting and this isn't the same thing as swype from what I can tell. Also anyone know how to turn the damn key sound off :) other than that I really like the Sammy keypad.

To turn off the key sounds go to Settings>Sound and Display and uncheck Audible touch tones.

Sorry for my misunderstanding. I only use the swype keyboard so I am not sure about the Samsung keyboard.

^^ Wow. I never even noticed that, and I swipe (not swype) my screen all the time to clear away dust and stuff. Although, I don't see myself ever using it..

Instead of starting another thread. Is there a way to get accented character sets? Such as ? and ? or ?. I sometimes text in Spanish (Not often) and that could come in handy.

Thanks, I don't know if sweeping is worth the chance of making an unintentional character appear, but nice to know what it does. I do feel a little bummed you have to turn off key sounds in the phone to kill the key sounds in the Samsung keyboard, it is an option at the app level in the other keyboards. But oh well, haptic is still on so it is ok, how often do I dial with the phone key pad anyhow?

I'm still unclear how 'multitouch' is used in the keyboard though.

I think you can get to the accented characters if you long hold on the letter key. It should bring up the option to select different characters that way.

Multitouch is used to keep the keyboard from blocking if you type really fast. Without multi touch if your finger was on a key, the next keystroke will not register. With multi touch you can hit the T key and still have your finger on it when type H and E.

For keyboards that are not mutlitouch aware you would miss letters in words.
