Samsung note 8 Email

I have a Hotmail account set up but I cannot view my old emails.

Whenever I go to check my emails I just get:

No Emails

You may have Emails that have not yet been retrieved from the server.

What does this mean? And how do I fix this?

Have you checked your account Sync settings? If you selected a certain period of time to be synced (usually 30 days as default), you would only see your latest 30 days in your phone and would probably need to use the Outlook client to see anything beyond that. Not sure if for Outlook accounts you can set the sync to 'All time' or not.
