Android Central Question

I was an avid Windows Phone user and then switched to IOS which was the worst decision ever. I haven't used android since donut lol. With that said, who gives the better bang for the buck? I really like what I've seen with LG and Samsung. I'm with sprint in the U.S. Any help would be appreciated

I'm currently using the LG V30+ on Sprint and they have an amazing deal.

Honestly though either would be a good choice.

My experience has been really good. When I upgraded to Oreo I had some disconnect issues with Bluetooth the first couple days. After that it's been great

I use to be an avid LG fan and still consider the V20 the best total package in a phone. Nowadays it's pretty much a competition between Samsung, and everyone else trying to be a Samsung. Removing defining features, moving to AMOLED screens that can burn in, sealed batteries, and glass body phones.

If anything, it'll likely come down to your camera preferences. Samsung is known for a great point and shoot auto mode. LG is known for a fantastic set of manual controls, and are one of the big reasons why I chose the V20. These are a sample of just how creative you can get with a good set of manual controls.1028161853-1.jpeg0504172301.jpeg0701172207.jpeg

Those looks amazing!! Ive heard the quad dac is really nice for audio are well. You mentioned you used to be and avid LG user, have you moved on to something else?

I have the LG V20 and the Samsung S8+ and both are fantastic phones. I just updated to Oreo on the V20 and it's like a brand new phone for me.

I switch between both phones as a daily driver. V20 has the better audio and camera experience but the S8+ is no slouch when it comes to videos and pictures.

With Samsung, you deal with alot of bloat (Doesn't really bother me) and the goofy Bixby which can be turned off. I do love Samsung Pay and it works alot better than Google Pay for me.

Bluetooth works fine on both phones for me. I'm not a power Bluetooth user but I have never had problems.

Go for lg v35.... The LG skin is much lighter than Samsung.. Samsung tries to get you to use their branded apps instead of Google's... If you like that stuff, you will enjoy it .. but I'd rather pick my own... The battery lasts a long time... The screen is perfect... Great vibration motor... Loud speaker... Slim light phone

I've been eyeing the V30 and note 9. The one concern I have on the V30 is it becoming obsolete overnight. Is LG good with Security updates etc? I played around with the LG and Samsung in the store and both look really nice. I cant decide if i like the curved screen though lol.

Thanks. I also forgot about how good the microphones are too. I shot this video trackside to a couple of jet dragsters, the closest being about 20ft away. Aside from not picking up the thundering of their afterburner pops, the sound is (Very) loud and clear.

I don't have a good enough listening environment to tell the noise difference on the DAC quality. I have used the V20 on a custom car stereo system and it sounded great. You can turn the quad DAC off (going with a standard DAC setup), and it sounded more like an EQ change than anything.

The V20 is still my daily driver. As I said earlier, I think it's still the best package, and nothing else has really caught my interest. The V40 looks interesting with the telephoto lens and larger pixels of the main camera (better low light performance), but it's not worth the trade-off of other features... Or lack thereof. I have also thought about one of the new CAT phones, with their FLIR cameras. I don't have any real need for that and the rest of the specs are meh, but it would be an eye catcher. Lol

I've seen some people call the Note 9 obsolete before it was even released because it wasn't 5G capable. You know, that mobile data system that isn't even out yet? Lol. So obsolete is a very subjective term. LG is known to be slow to push out OS version updates, but I'm not such a cutting edge user that it matters. I generally don't look forward to those. The security updates are ok though, and Verizon has pushed a number of them. That seems to be carrier specific, though. Verizon tends to bundle sacral security updates into one big update. Other carriers may push them out individually.
