I've used my watch to pay several times at the gas pump by my house and at this other store and the past couple of time at both places it doesn't work and will say declined. I started to try my phone today if it did the same but I was in a hurry and just pulled out my card. I do have a watch update I am getting now.

i have not used smsung pay on my watch but on my phone samsung pay is broken i cant add debit cards it would come up has registration fail i even try to registration with samsung own cash card and still same issue so i this unstalled the app for now

Well I just tried it on my phone and it didn't work neither. And on my watch I would just open Samsung pay and I would punch in my PIN and it would just work I never turned NFC off or on I think it would automatically come in and work. And today it didn't even ask me for a pin.

I was told by customer support the cash card will not work on the watch, only the phone a while back. I am dropping it as soon as I use the balance. If you are getting declines, any chance it could be one of those fraud alerts? I get them all the time and if you don't clear it, you will get nothing but declines. check your messages. You do not need nfc on to use samsung pay.

Just to note, I quit using samsung pay on the watch since getting the Galaxy 4. I now use google pay. It seems to be faster.

Thanks! I am using an Amex Wells Fargo and it's just that it worked previously a couple times at 2 different places and now all of a sidden it says decline. I don't think their is any fraud alerts and I didn't think you needed NFC on cause I turned it off the 1st time I used it and all I had to do was put in my pin and it worked. I checked the app on my phone I don't see any error messages so I don't know. I need gas tomorrow and if it doesn't work tomorrow I'll start using G-Pay I guess.

So today I go get gas everything is normal it asked for my pin and worked at the gas pump at walmart. But after I ran in Thortons to get my dad a newspaper and when I held down to open Samsung pay it didn't ask for a pin and told the cashier I needed to insert card it was weird.

For a long time Walmart in Tucson has not accepted Samsung or Google Pay. Neither does Lowes.

No my Walmart never did but the gas pump does. Sometimes it works at other gas pumps and sometimes it don't even ask me for my pin just opens and doesn't work.

Walmart has never had an NFC pay option. They are trying to force you to use THEIR alternative to contactless pay. The only way I have ever used Samsung Pay at Walmart was with my phones that still had MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) where it simulates a card swipe. In those cases, it would fail to work about 1 in ten times. To be honest, since Samsung decided to get rid of MST, I have not used it at all. I put Google Pay on my watch and phone and it just works better in places that accept contactless pay.

I think Samsung is really doing their best to push people away from their ecosystem by removing all the features that made them diferent: Removed MST, watches now Wear OS instead of Tizen. Whether or not that is their intent, I am losing every reason I had to be exclusively tied to Samsung.

I guess I'll have to switch to Google Pay cause Samsung doesn't work for me anymore and when I hold down the button to open Samsung Pay it doesn't even ask for a pin anymore and that is when I know it's not going to work.

I know this is old and I started it a while back but I called Samsung the beginning of the week about Pay still not working on my watch 4. She had me clear cache and data and something else and it didn't work. Called back and he had me clear cache in one other app to do with the watch. I told him every time I hold button for pay to come up it doesn't ask me for a pin anymore and he said it wasn't supposed after the 1st time. I said no that is for the watch itself but Pay has always asked me everytime for a pin and now it just doesn't and doesn't work.

I know I should switch to Google Pay which I probably will but Samsung told me to reset my watch. I did do a backup but what will I have to reset once I reset it? I don't know if I really wan to reset it or not and I forgot what all I will have to re set up. Thanks!

I switched to Google Pay over a year ago and haven't looked back. Google Pay works great with my GW4.

It depends on how you set up the security for SP on your watch. Once you take your watch off and put it back on, the first time you use SP you'll have to enter your pin. But you can choose to set the security to leave it that way or change to enter your pin for every transaction.

I've used Samsung Pay for several months, no problems, at my Publix and the occasional gas station. Since the watch update I got a couple of weeks ago (April 21), I get "card denied' at Publix (4 times at 2 different Publix's) and once at the one gas station I've tried at. So I'm assuming the update broke it. Frustrating, as we look so forward to updates, for new stuff etc. This update, I don't see anything new and it seems to have broken Samsung Pay. I guess I can try deleting and reinstalling, but ugh. Come on.

Thanks! It turns out after Samsung had me clear cache and data and I re-entered my card I don't know it's worked twice at the gas pump I always used it at before and at work in the cafeteria I tried it over the weekend and it worked. So maybe I am fixed now. I just know in the past I had to enter the pin every time for Samsung Pay and once for when you put the watch on. But even my husband said if your wearing the watch all day why keep putting it in. So thanks everyone but I think it's back to working.

My husband uses Google Pay too so I may set it up also will see. I just never use my phone to pay anymore it's a pain. I have a thick 2 piece case with a popsocket not even sure if it would work with my top off of the popsocket. I just prefer using my watch so much more convenient.

Edit: Samsung Pay has worked for me the last 3 or 4 times I've used it so maybe I am ok now.
