Samsung Pay wiping out cards

So last night I had to go through the setup process yet again on my Frontier. This is the 4th time in 2 months. Don't understand why I have to keep doing this yet have not had to redo it on my phone even after it upgraded from OS 6 to 7. Anyone know what prompts this re-initializing and how I can avoid it so I do not have to keep setting up my credit cards?

I'm having the same issue exactly. I've done it five times in the last few months. It's like the app resets itself. I contacted Samsung but they were clueless about it.

It happened again (noticed this morning). Every week. On phone with Samsung, person I am talking to said she worked same issue today also. So more than just two of us. They are elevating the issue.

Approx how many transactions are you getting between resets? I'm up to 4 between my watch and phone and haven't had a glitch yet. Now granted, I just got my watch this week and just started using SP, so I don't have the amount of usage you do.

Also, are you using your watch connected to your phone? You can only use your watch, like 4 or 5 times unconnected to your phone before you have to reset the tokens with your phone.

Watch is connected to the phone when I use it. Once I was in line to pay so I checked to make sure the card showed up and it did. By the time I got to the front of the line to pay it had reset! So it's completely random for me.

Took me quite some time to set up my cards. A few hours later I get an email from the bank stating that at my request they were canceling Samsung pay on my card. Since I never cancelled it, I checked it on my watch. Not only was that card gone. All of my added cards were gone. This is a deal breaker for me. I've only had the watch for two days. I like the watch a lot, but I think I might be returning it.

You need to call your bank and find out what happened. Make sure you tell them you never requested the cancellation. They should set them back up. I used my watch 2 times today. It is working fine. I wouldn't return the watch because the bank has screwed up.

I don't think it was the bank, because all of my cards were wiped out at the same time. When a card is removed from Samsung pay, the bank automatically think you're the one who initiated it. Hence the email. It was definitely the watch. Anyway, I set the cards up again. I'll see what happens tomorrow. Thanks for the reply.

Got ya. Could just be an issue with that watch. Considering the quantity that are produced, there's always a chance of getting one with a bad part. If it does it again, I'd be looking to replace it.

For those who are experiencing this issue, do you have more than one gear watch that you use?

Actually I do have more than one gear watch. I have a cellular gear S2 that I use when I go on walks. I did not setup Samsung pay on it though.

Since powering my watch off then on again, my cards have remained in place. I only have the one LTE frontier.

I was wondering about multiple watches. I have a Classic S2 without Samsung Pay and wondering if switching between them is what triggers this behavior. Anyone else who has two watches (maybe one without Samsung Pay) switch out watches to see if it purges your cards?

Mine just changed all my cards on the app to white and blanked out the contact info for my cards. On the watch the cards are all there but say contact customer service.

I've confirmed at least one Pay for Gear bug with Samsung's support team. If you have more than one Gear watch then just switching watches, whether or not you use Pay for Gear with the 2nd watch, will deregister the cards. This is a Samsung confirmed bug in the Pay software. I have an S2 for a work "beater" watch and an S3 Frontier for causual and dress and had to just forget ever wearing my S2.

The other thing that I noticed is that, even with only one device, Pay for Gear seems to deregister cards whenever there is a Pay for Gear update, but I have not yet confirmed this with Samsung.

Did Samsung say anything about a fix for either of these issues? When Samsung Pay on my Samsung s6 is updated, it doesn't wipe out my cards. Also, switching between watches is actually made easier by Samsung with their autoswitch so that part of the bug ought to be fixed as well.

I had wiped out my 4 credit cards quite some time ago, the reason my cards were removed was because I removed my security [pass word and finger print] they do that for security of your accounts. Did either of you remove your security settings at any point? I am pretty sure even if you remove security and put it back on the cards are still removed, that will definitely remove your cards.

No, didn't remove security. Only change for me was switching (for the weekend) which of my two Gear watches I used. I use my S3 during the week and S2 on the weekends. Plus saw cards wiped out when Samsung pay for Gear S3 was updated.

Samsung Pay for Android is a completely separate application from Samsung Pay for Gear devices. It's Samsung Pay for Gear devices that has the problem with deregistering its cards every time you change between Gear watches. Samsung did not have an ETA on a fix and sort of hinted that they'd just become aware of the problem but they have confirmed that the problem is real. I love my Gear S3 and being able to use Samsung Pay on my watch but if they do not fix this problem my S3 will be my last Samsung smart watch.
