Samsung Pay wiping out cards

Thanks for prompting me to check my cards, all gone again. I'll blame it on Android P this time.

Come on guys. You can't keep using a beta OS and expect everything to work without issues, especially.....on a non-Samsung phone.

Pie isn't in beta any longer. Besides, this has been happening on stable Oreo for a long time. There are others in this thread with a Samsung phone and it has happened to them. It's not exclusive to non-Samsung phones. It may be more prevalent on non-Samsung phones, I'll give you that, but it's not exclusive.

To the others who are actually looking for a real solution...this is what I'm trying now. I uninstalled Samsung Pay for Gear version 1.6.8906 from May 31 and installed version 1.6.6306 from January 25. Got that version from APK Mirror. My theory is that the May 31 update may have something to do with it since all my issues started in early June. I just added my card back this morning and it usually works for about a week before Samsung Pay wipes it out again, so I should have an answer fairly soon.

I have a Pixel XL and have been having this issue with my Gear S3 with Oreo and now Pie. As stated, Pie is not beta any more and as mentioned, this was happening long before Pie. I have been having this issue for at least 6 months. At first I thought it was related to software updates until I used my S3 for a purchase and 10 minutes later, I was in another store and all my cards were gone. Twas no update in between the purchases. It is amazing how Samsung has not addressed this as it is a real issue and inconvenience. it is nice when you can run into a store without your wallet and a bummer when you have to run back out to the car because you watch wont do what it is supposed to do. I was looking forward to the S4 (or whatever it is called) but will now be looking at the new Google watch when I upgrade to my Pixel xl3.

My bad. I didn't know Pie had already been released. No, I agree the issue is not exclusive to non-Samsung phones. But there's an issue somewhere. I've never had my cards wiped out.

Alright, a new "almost major" version of Samsung Pay was released, and it features some changes.

First of all, now it's version 1.7.3006, as opposed to the 1.6.8906 that was available earlier.
Second, now it's "Samsung Pay (Watch plug-in)" instead of "Samsung Pay (Gear plug-in)", following "Samsung Gear" rebranding to "Galaxy Wearables (Samsung Gear)".
Third change that I've noticed right off, home screen of "Samsung Pay" on the phone is now actually fitting to my phone, earlier half of the "Coupons" and "Settings" buttons were off screen with no way to scroll the screen to see them fully, and now they're just fully visible. Took them a little bit of time.

With that last change, it seems that people at Samsung spent some time adapting the app for non-Samsung phones, even if a little bit, so there is hope that wiping out cards was fixed in this version as well. Just installed it (since just had another wipe), so gonna give it a go and report back.

If you're interested in this version, and you didn't receive any updates on your phone/watch, you can grab the APK from ApkMirror by searching for "Samsung Pay (Watch plug-in)" on the said website.

I will be interested in your findings with the new app. My phone has prompted me to install it a couple times but I've held off for now since I'm on day 10 with an older version of Pay for Gear plug-in (1.6.6306) and it hasn't wiped my cards yet. Previously it would wipe them every 7-12 days, so if it's going to happen, it will happen soon. If and when it does happen with the older version I'm using, I'll install the newest one and give that a try. Keep us posted!

A little update: 3 days, it's still working, I will report on that 11 days later as well, but I'm not updating because of this.

After a little usage of 3 days I've found another 2 things that were changed with the new version.
First, it now FINALLY shows my transactions in both Galaxy Wearable app, and Samsung Pay app on my phone - previously it was always showing "No transactions found", even though all the notifications from Samsung Pay were always working.
Second, I've noticed that "Coupons" button has "new" red thingy in a corner from time to time, even though the coupon offer inside is the one that was always there, and doesn't get updated at all - so it seems that "Samsung Pay (Watch plug-in)" establishes at least some kind of connection to some server, possibly refreshing cookies or whatever, possibly leading to non-wiping-all-cards behavior.

We'll see on what's next, but those little changes kinda give me a lot of hope for sure.

Today marks exactly 2 weeks since I added my card back using and older version of Samsung Pay for Gear from January and everything is still working great. This is the longest I've gone without Samsung Pay wiping out my card since this whole issue began. At this point, I have to blame it on that app. I'm going to wait and see how the latest update fares before upgrading to that. I'm perfectly fine with staying on an older version as long as it works and doesn't delete my card.

10 days into the new version (1.7.3006), that's already a tie with my "personal best", so hopes are pretty high at this moment. I've even went ahead and added both my cards instead of just a regular one.

Hopefully, this goes on and continues until I have to wipe it myself.

I've been on the latest version since release and I haven't lost my cards so hopefully this latest also solved the issue.

My little 2 week "trial period" is over, as today is 15th day of me using the 1.7.3006.

The result is promising: no wipe still, so at least it's more reliable than previous version that barely lasted 10 days at most.

As a conclusion, I'd recommend this version for people who are still experiencing wipes with any other version of the plug-in, but I won't recommend it for the people who are not, since 2 weeks is too narrow of a window to give a "final verdict".

From this moment, I'd stop posting these updates, and only post one if it finally wipes my card data.

That's great to hear you guys are having success with the newest version and very encouraging. Today marks 28 days since I added my card back using an older version of the app from January and everything is still working great. This is by far the longest I have gone since the card wiping issue began so at this point I have to believe it's that app that was causing the problem.

I, for one, would be very appreciative if you guys running the newest update wouldn't mind posting another update in another couple weeks. If you go a month or so without your card wiping I'd say it's pretty safe for me to go ahead and install the newest version.

Well, as promised, here's an update post. Today marks the 1 month of me using "Samsung Pay (Watch plug-in)", version 1.7.3006.

For those 2 weeks of "extended trial" I was thinking about how to make it worth the name of "extended trial", and I've decided to add a little complication that could've screw up my Samsung Pay - I've stopped postponing any related updates.

During that period I've installed 4 related updates:
1. Gear S Plugin
2. Samsung Accessory Service
3. Updated the Gear itself to the latest "battery update"
4. Updated my phone from Android 7.1.1 to Android 8.1.0

Also, I've let my Gear run out of charge once (I never let it, but decided to try it now).

With all that stuff done, I thought I'd break it for sure, but no, it didn't break, and Samsung Pay still works on my watch, no wipes have taken place and I'm still able to pay with it.

Overall, after this period, I think I've come to a point that I can recommend anyone to update to this version, expect people who are running Android 9 - since I can't test it personally, it's up to you now.

Thank you very much for the update. I really appreciate you taking the time to test all this out and write it up. I'm going to go ahead and install the newest version. I'm pretty confident this issue has been resolved. Now, the one variable that's different on my phone is I am on Android 9, but hopefully that won't make a difference. If it does, I know I can install an older version of Samsung Pay (watch plug-in) and it will work. Thanks again!

I updated to the latest Samsung Pay version 1.7.3006 about 30 days ago, and so far, it hasn't wiped out my card like it did before. Prior to the latest update, I would have to add my card every week or two, which was extremely annoying.

Having MST on this watch is my favorite feature.

I clear out all my Samsung app cache once a week.that includes Samsung plug in, framework anything that has Samsung.
