Samsung Phone: Not finding tones I have added, where might they be?

Normally when I have a new phone I add new tones by plugging it into a usb port and adding them to the ringtones and notifications folders
But when I try to now there it doesnt show any files at all when plugged in.

So I managed to add some tones through File Manager +
However the phone will not find them
Help!

It's not showing any files at all anywhere, or you just don't see anything in the /Ringtones or /Notifications directory?

Samsung A70. Love the phone but like to change the ringtons and message tones to ones I add.
When I plug a phone into the pc it usually shows all the folders on the phone. I can then add tones there

But this phone when plugged, it just shows and empty page.
Adding throuugh File Manager App I only see rintones and notifications tones folder empty
Added my files there but phone doesnt show them when I try to change a tone
Only the default ones

Even reset my new phone to see if that changed anything
Which brought up bixby which took me ages to disable.

Maybe from the computer to your phone they went to different file , check downloads or other files ? If so then just send to ringtone file

When you plug the phone into the PC, are you also swiping down the notification panel, tapping the USB notification, then making sure MTP (or File Transfer) is selected?

But the ringtones appear in the ringtones folder I created as shown in file explorer on phone
Is there another folder also?
As phone will not let me set them.
Am just seeing files as I can see in file Explorer on my phone
No default media ringtones notifications folders
Only the ones I created

Try going to your System Settings, then search for Reset All App Preferences, and do that. Then try selecting a new ringtone again -- does it prompt you to select an app to complete the action? If so, then you might have inadvertently selected some 3rd party file explorer to complete the action before, and that one isn't properly letting you access the /Ringtones directory -- make sure the stock or default app is selected to complete the action.

Have done Settings Reset All App Preferences.
It doesnt prompt me to select an app to complete the action for text messages at all.
But if i want to change the ringtone for a contact, the message comes up as below....
Some of the tones I have added show up there but not all.

If I try and change the message tone or WhatsApp tone it only shows the defaults
But shows the ringtones/ message tones already on the phone (somewhere)
Will not show the ones I have added into the empty ringtones folder.

And you're choosing Sound Picker, right? "File Manager+" sounds like a 3rd party file manager app.

Hi Yes am choosing sound picker (That only appeared a few days ago!)
But only have the option of a list of tones already on the phone
None of ones I added at all.
I created folders for them as cant access the folder already on the phone
That usually worked on other phones.

Ok, and the ringtone folder that was already on the phone is called /Ringtones, right? What file format are the custom tones -- mp3?

Ringtone and Notifications folders I created and added mp3 tones i wanted into both.

Couldn't access ringtones folder where default ringtones are on phone to add anything there.

Can you confirm that the ringtone directory you're using is called /Ringtones? Make sure that's the exact spelling, and that it's on the user root directory (in other words, the full pathname is /storage/emulated/0/Ringtones).

Hi B Diddy All I can see is what shows up on these screenshots.

The ringtone and notifications folders, I created and put my mp3 files in them, as couldnt see anywhere to put them.
Can't view any other folders.
Cant see storage/emulated

Ok, that looks correct. Try wiping the cache partition: https://www.hardreset.info/devices/samsung/samsung-galaxy-a70/wipe-cache/

Can you put them in music folder the ringtones then transfer within the file manager to ringtones folder and notification? Or copy to SD card and then from file manager to ringtones folder ?

Yes tried putting them in music folder the ringtones then transfering within the file manager to ringtones folder and notification.
No change.
Must be a setting somewhere stopping it
Really dont know.

Wiping the cache partition is pretty straightforward. As long as you avoid selecting the Wipe Data option, and make sure you pick Wipe Cache, you can't hurt anything.
