I'm new to Samsung Kies... have always just used a simple USB connection between phone and computer before this.
Bought a Samsung Rugby SGH-I847, and installed Kies to move contact info between the old and new phone. It worked just fine with the original firmware. Then got a message that advised that firmware on phone could be updated. Which I did. Checked that both software and phone had latest current updates.
Now, when I try to open the Rugby's Contacts in Kies, I get "Stopped loading SGH-I847's contacts"
So, select "Photos" instead, then click back to Contacts. Now the message that shows is "Cannot start service on the device. Please disconnect and then reconnect the device".
So unplugged the USB, waited a few moments, and then plugged back in. Still no luck.
But... Kies loads and opens the contacts from a Samsung Galaxy Fascinate just fine. So I'm thinking the firmware update has something in it that trips up Kies.
Hints, help, suggestions? I suppose I could see if I could use Kies to roll back the firmware, but right now I am kind of suspicious of it and am afraid I am going to end up with a non-functioning phone.
