Samsung S3 I9300 not supported by Kies after flash

Noob to Android; any help would be great.

Problem:
* Kies won't recognise my phone: "This device is not supported by Kies 2.0. Make sure that your device is supported and try again."

What I have:
* Samsung S3 GT-I9300
* Kies 2.5.0.12094_28_8
* Odin3 3.04

What I've done:
* Rooted phone with CF-Root-SGS3-v6.0
* Installed CWM (to backup original ROM)
* Upgraded to JB using odin (wrong region)
- - Original firmware (AP:I9300BVALF4, CP:I9300BVLF2, CSC:I9300FTMALF4)
- - Current firmware (AP:I9300XXDLJ4, CP:I9300XXDLID, CSC:I9300OXADLJ4)

Possible problems:
* Rooting phone breaks kies?
* Installing CWM breaks kies?
* Upgrading firmware breaks kies?
* Using wrong firmware region breaks kies?
* Wrong CSC selected?
* Kies needs flash count at 0 (i.e. use triangle away)?

Desired outcome:
* Kies working
* Unbranded/debranded Android JB

What I've tried:
* Kies troubleshoot connection error
* USB debugging is unchecked (have checked/unchecked)
* Changing CSC (using CSC changer)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's a lot of options but a couple of reasons I do know is the Kies will not connect to your phone if you don't have stock recovery installed. there is an Odin file you can get for stock recovery, any unroot method will include this. If you do that you should be able to use Kies to update your phone.

You may need to go back to fully stock ICS and then upgrade the software if you want your regional update.

I'm fairly certain this will wipe your phone so make sure you back up (I may be wrong and sure someone will know) but it's always good to do a backup anyway.

I was having this issue with Kies on a totally stock S3 when trying to upgrade to jellybean, and gave up with it and just installed jellybean official through Odin and now Kies recognises my phone and tells me there's no new updates, so didn't work out why it has happening. So if anyone has any better answers it would be good to know.

Mine used to work just fine up until about a week ago...
Now every time I try and connect via USB it gives this same message...

Did something change now restricting US Samsung Galaxy S3 users from connecting to KIES ?

This is crazy... definitely need to be able to sync...

Please help!

It can't be just US users as I'm in the UK on a network branded phone and it didn't work.

Network and GT-I9300 issues, will try my best to help.

Kies won't play nice with rooted devices if you want to use Kies I think I'm right in saying you need to flash a stock rom thus unrooting your phone, make sure it's one for your region otherwise your csc won't match and Kies still won't offer you firmware updates. If you want to keep root then ditch Kies and use odin for any future rom flashing.
