samsung s3 mini wont connect via usb

I have had this phone (samaung s3 mini) for a couple of days and I went to put music on it via usb cable, it transferred the file but wouldnt play the music a message popped up saying error no longer available, I have looked at other people similar problems and followed there advice but it still hasnt solved my problem, can anyone help me further please
