I was having a problem with Samsung S4 charging, to which I replaced the cable using one I bought off of ebay with no issues. This fixed the charging issue, but it looks like I've created a new problem. It appears I have broken a connector shown in the picture here. I somehow lost the endcap. Does anyone know what this part is called and where I can get one? Also I watched some youtube videos and some of the S4 phones don't have this connector on their board... strange

FYI this is a screengrab from a youtube video

The mic is part of the charging port board. It's possible that you got a defective one, or you damaged it when you put it on (or closed the phone up). At this point, I'd bring it to a shop. (Or you could try another charging port board - they're around $10, so it's not expensive.)

But if it's the plug from a cable that plugs into the board (something like the antenna connector - the white one on the upper right, it looks like), you'll have to replace whatever assembly that cable comes from. (If you gad the connector unplugged when you closed the phone up, you could have cut the connector off.)

This is why I always advise that it's cheaper to being it in for repair the first time. (And did you check the mic hole in the case when you had the charging port board out? If it's stuffed with dust and lint, it will appear that the mic is defective, because almost no sound will get through to it.)
