samsung s5 how do i get a different sound for texts verses other (email etc.) notifications

I use my phone for business, I need to be able to tell when a text comes in for a customer, right now every notification that comes in, is the same sound. when I go to sound settings, it lets me change the sound, but it is still the SAME for texts and notifications I need to tell texts from everything else. help!(?)

Welcome to Android Central!

Open the messaging application and open settings - notifications. Change the ringtone to whichever you choose. To change the ringtone for a particular contact, open the contact or people application - open contact - edit - ringtone.

I don't know how to open 'settings while in messaging. I have no 3 dot bar for menu or settings, I only know how to change settings from the main home screen, which changes the ringtone for all notifications, not just text sounds. sorry, please help!

I had the same question! I was able to access settings by touching "Verizon messages" while messages was open. Offered a lot of adjustment form there. Android could use a lot of help with intuitive builds on its functions.
