Samsung S6 Fast charging burning smell

My s6 accelerometer stopped working too. Sent it to Samsung on Sept 1st and still don't have it back. This is my last Samsung device ever. Support is terrible. How can you leave a customer without a phone for two weeks.

Sent from my Z970 using Tapatalk

Why didn't you just exchange the phone?

I had the same issue! Took it back to Verizon, just last week. They said this isn't a known issue. Had it replaced with a new Edge Plus and it's still really warm when charging. It makes me nervous and I'm surprised Samsung hasn't done anything about this.....

hi im having a similar prob with my s6.. the chargrt gets hot an the end of the cable that plugs into the phone gets even more heated to the point it burns to touch it... wen the fast charge is activated that happens i dont kno how or what to do

If it isn't the cable that came with the charger, it is probably too small. Get a cable rated for 2A. If it is the cable that came with it, then it is probably defective and should be replaced.

I'm having the same problem with my charger overheating. It has burn spots on both sides where it plugs into the phone and I noticed two cracks on the back near the place where I plug the charger in. Has anyone else had this problem? My phone was curling iron hot too!

I haven't had this exact issue, but I've had a similar one. I drained my battery almost 20 throughout the day and I left it plugged in overnight. When I woke up, the end of the charger that was plugged into my phone was burning hot in some of the plastic had even melted. Now the charger doesn't even work anymore. My phone seems to be fine though. I haven't found any issues with it yet.

I had the same problem sent phone off they made me pay £160 to get it repaired as apparently it was water damaged, I then got a replacement charger cable and the same usb adapter, did the same problem after one week, taking the ****.

I have been having the same problem recently. My phone got up to 112 degrees Fahrenheit. I just noticed a small crack in the casing of the cord. I smoothed it over and the problem went away. Is there a crack in your charging cord?

its actually normal to have that. The charger it self has a built in feature that will prevent the usb from burning it self. When the charger gets to hot, it will automatically shut the electric flow down. But still u have to be very careful with the charger since its a fast charging. After using it u must unplug the charger from the socket to prevent any damage on the wire. Like mine, my charger gets to burned up and cause some damage on the casing, and now it doesnt work anymore. I dont really know why, but i will send it to Samsung store tomorrow to claim it bck. To be honest, i really hate when a company doesnt really examine their product before releasing it to public. Samsung has shown their biggest failure with their fast charging product and cause discomfort for some consumer.. like me.. :( in conclusion, charge ur phone right infront of a fan or airconditioner to keep it cold while charging so that the heat will stay low.

I'm brand new here so it won't let me post a link. But I found an article that describes this exactly. The fast charging basically overheats the phone on a hardware level. And no software fix can fix hardware problems. To know if this has happened to your phone go to the phone app and do the following.

Input *#0*#
Select "sensor"
Next as you look at the top of the screen move your phone around. The three axis should move. X,y,z if one is stuck. You've got a major problem. You can also hit the graph button and watch the axis change while you move your phone.

So basically the article said whatever you do, don't use the fast charge feature. I hope this helped.

What are you talking about , #0×# and sensor on phone app ? I found no such thing ,pls be more specific unless it's just a joke. My fast charger is heating up too , I'm about to have to stop using it.

Has anyone else had issues with their samsung s6 charger over heating? I had my phone plugged in for about an hour. I wasn't using the phone while it was charging. I started to smell burnt metal, grabbed my charger and it was burning hot...as in curling iron hot! I unplugged my phone immediately and smelled the burnt metal coming from phone. My phone is working, Im just afraid to plug it back in again. I've been having issues with my fast charging turning off and on throughout the past week. I called samsung and they said they can try to figure out what the issue is, fix it, then send my phone back to me. Has anyone else had this issue?!

Oh wow! I thought I was crazy....I kept thinking something was on fire in my house. I went to get my phone and burnt my hand on the charging chord it was so hot. It has burnt and melted the chord?!?!?!

Why are people in such a hurry to charge their phones that they are willing to risk damage or a fire? I only use wireless charging and just to be sure, I have rapid charging disabled in settings.

my fast charger for my s6 edge is doing the exact same thing. This is my second charger and both the same. I had a burning smell and could barely touch the charger to unplug. what going on with them. I'm now back to slow charging which is a pain as I charge my phone twice a day as I'm a heavy user.

Samsung S6 Connector Burned.jpg

See picture. My Connector to my Samsung Galaxy S6 Active burned last night. Charger/Connector that came with the phone. Luckily it didn't start a house fire. Very dangerous. Called Samsung and they sent me to "the office of the President" to make it sound important and still have not received a call back from anyone. It sounds like this is a fairly common problem for them.

I tested the accelerometers and none were stuck per the previous post.
