Samsung S6 or Nexus 6?

That point is moot - most people don't have an additional iPhone and don't carry around a point and shoot 24-7. If your point and shoot takes crappy pictures do you also not care because you have a DSLR along anyway?

Why the snark?
Not nice.

I'm torn - the N6 was great, but the AF speed of the camera was insanely slow.
It's not that slow for me.

The N6 has a last-gen processor, no notification LED, a lower-res screen with lower max brightness. The speakers sound ok, but they tend to sound crappy at max volume (at least that was the case for mine).
Last gen doesn't mean slow. It will hold its own against anything out there.

There is an LED, but not enabled by default. You can enable it by rooting or using a custom rom. (which I did)

Lower res screen? It's a 2K screen for God's sake. It's the highest res you can get at the moment. <scratches head>

Maybe it's your phone, but my speakers sound just fine even at max volume. (almost too loud)

The S6 Edge clearly looks better, has a faster processor , a better screen, a drastically better camera, but battery life seems to be bad and there's a possible reception issue. I'm in a bit of a pickle here.

Looks is a matter of opinion. Faster cpu? Put them side by side and you won't see a difference. Better screen maybe, but I think you mean more color saturated which some don't like. Sure, the camera may be "better", but for most non-professional photographers it's just fine. People aren't doing art exhibits with a phone's camera.

I hear ya but what I'm getting at is to focus on a camera part (pardon the pun) is ludicrous. The reason I brought up other options is because I personally have them and many do too. When I buy a phone heck yeah I want a good camera but if I can't keep a signal and have to tethered to a charger the luster of it goes down the toilet.

Completely agree with that. Not getting a decent 4G signal and lousy battery life are killer arguments against the Samsung - the problem is just that not everyone is reporting those. I'm not saying these problems don't exist (I have no idea if they do), so I'd like to find out myself, even if I end up losing 10% value if I have to sell the phone again.

It's not like all N6s are fault-free: my first one rebooted on its own about 3-4 times a day and made the entire phone unusable. The reboot thread over on the Google product forum is around a thousand posts long, it's a massive issue for countless N6 owners.

Hmmm haven't encountered that

I dunno, every time I'v gone in to verizon ready to love the N6 the screen has been a let down. Don't know if it's a brightness or color temperature issue but no screens appear to have a white background. That has been reinforced every time I hold my aging GPE GS4 next to the N6. My phone - Gmail has a WHITE background. The N6 in comparison is sort of light gray... like looking through gray window tinting gel. Is there a fix like a custom kernel with color correction or do you just live with it?

I turn off adaptive brightness setting works for me.

Was going to ask the same question - I ordered another N6 (returned my last one because of the constant reboots), just to find out two hours later that the S6 edge has finally become available here. Now I ordered that one as well - one of the two will have to go back again. Unfortunately, they'll only take them back if they're unopened, so I won't be able to just check out both.

I'm torn - the N6 was great, but the AF speed of the camera was insanely slow. Other than that, I always found it slightly too big (but I can live with the size, I guess). I heard that the S6 has terrible LTE / 4G reception, so that would be a killer, but I don't know if the people who wrote that just have faulty devices.

The N6 is much faster device do to no bloat or touchwizitis infecting it

Not really - I just got the S6 edge this morning and it's insanely fast. Reception is also ok. But battery life seems horrendous. I'll test it over the weekend - if it doesn't improve after two charges, it'll go back.

That's been the main issue.

S6 (edge)
My battery last ALL DAY, EVERY DAY. Never needed a mid day charge, don't even own a car charger.

It's the best phone I have ever used. Camera is 10x better than Nexus.
Fast, smooth, beautiful. I haven't had a single issue with my S6 Edge.
It's been perfect since day one, and still is.

Countless? 1000's of posts? It's 1 page long and a lot of posts are people just responding or trying to help. Exaggerate much? If it was that big of a deal, it would be all over the forums at XDA. It's not.

Don't make a fool of yourself - the thread is 36 pages long and has 899 posts at the moment by 162 different people.

I said "around a thousand posts long" - which is accurate. Don't put words in my mouth.

Also, here's an 18-page thread over at xda-developers:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/help/att-random-reboot-solution-t2951248/page18

Google has acknowledged the issue and has attempted to fix it with 5.1, but for most people, nothing changed:

"Hi All,

We appreciate that many of you experienced and shared feedback about random reboots on your Nexus 6 -- thank you! A new version of the Android operating system, 5.1, is now being delivered via an over-the-air (OTA) update, and I’m happy to report that the OTA will improve performance and reduce unexpected reboots.

Once you’ve received the update, please feel free to share your feedback on this thread.

Please note that the update is rolling out over the next several days. If you haven’t received it yet, please be patient as it should arrive soon.

I'm looking forward to hearing back from you on your experiences with Android 5.1."

It would seem you're the one making a fool of yourself. A thread made by 160 people is hardly countless/1000's. You said it, not me. And, all of those people aren't having problems. It is not widespread, considering how many people have bought the phone.

Must be a issue with one build I'm on Verizon n6 since day one not one reboot

Never a random reboot out of my nexus 6. My moto x on the other hand would random reboot multiple times a day.

How many have bought the phone?

Again trying to put words in my mouth, are we running out of arguments?

Most people don't - but apparently, lots do. Again - Google has acknowledged the issue so there probably were plenty of complaints over it

I've had my N6 now for about 3 weeks. Haven't had any reboots but it's not fast. My N5 is much faster. Maybe it's the encryption.
