Samsung S7 Edge Brightness issues

I have had an s7 Edge since it came out. I have all of the adjustment settings turned off (manual set, not automatic), and I noticed that the random dimming seems to relate to those sunlight features. I have my phone set to portrait. I was tipping my phone backwards (like one might for texting) and it would dim, and if I lifted it directly upright again, it would brighten. If you cover the bar at the top of your Edge where the Samsung logo is, (cover the dots along with the camera), you will notice your screen dim. Uncover it, it will correct again. Not sure what causes it aside from that, but it seems to be a line towards the solution. Thought I'd share.

Exactly. But why does it happen with Auto Brightness off?
