Samsung s7 pop-up ads to spam sites and random vibrations

Hey,
As of yesterday my Samsung s7 is getting redirected to spam/contest sites on google chrome, even when on legitimate websites. on top of this, today while browsing chrome on it, the phone began vibrating randomly as if i were receiving a call. The vibrating stopped as soon as i exited chrome. I haven't installed any 3rd party apps or any strange play store apps. could it be possible that a site i visited planted this on my phone?

I have tried -

- Factory resetting the phone
- deleting all cookies in chrome
- resetting ad ID on my google account

Welcome to Android Central! In the Chrome settings on your phone and your computer as well, go to the Privacy settings and Clear All Browsing Data, "from the beginning of time." Then, for good measure, go to Settings>Apps on the phone and select Chrome, then Storage, then Clear Cache/Clear Data. Now see if the problem persists.
